The weather's finally perked up just in time for our big 36 hole Spring Meeting tomorrow. Been playing quite well of late, fingers crossed the form continues into tomorrow. Shall be rocking the Loudmouth trousers with matching green polo shirt - don't worry, will tweet a pic tomorrow.

Also just seen a note from the course manager that the greens are currently running at 13 and likely will be a shade quicker tomorrow. Played midweek when they were around 11.5/12, going to be scary quick over the weekend but can't wait.

Got a big do at the club tomorrow night for an engagement party and to top it all off, we get an extra day to play on Monday!

Hope your weekends are as wonderful as mine's looking to be!

Will look out for the pic in the morning!

My weekend starts this afternoon trying to overturn a 5 hole deficit from my away leg in the Northern matchplay, out again in the sunshine tomorrow and Monday with a bit of football on Sunday. Been along time since we've had a decent long weekend to look forward to, enjoy all!

you can go off people you know.. my Mrs left for a hen weekend in Brighton an hour ago. 2 have been dropped off at school and the other is having a power nap. My weekend is gonna be filled with Nappies, general headaches, fighting, cooking, tidying up and not playing golf. my only light at the end of the tunnel is 18 holes on Monday afternoon... Enjoy while you are young and free Jimbo :)

PS. i do actually quite like my kids, its just when they get in the way of a weekends sunshine golf they wind me up a bit... ;)

Plenty of time to look at your TM clubs then ;)

Played last night, and then this afternoon, sat morn & sun morn :D perks of kids who are now 16 & 14 and parents are boring

Practice this afternoon, and then 36 hole medal tomorrow.
Repointing the patio on Sunday, and then golf again Monday.

I just need to remember how to hit my driver and I'm ready to compete.

That's Augusta pace

Indeedy, however, they haven't got the sort of slopes that are present down in Georgia! He got them up to 14+ for a scratch championship a few years ago, potentially a bit silly at that pace.

I think it's worth me saying that they are ridiculously true as well, members at our place always seem to get the response 'yeah but I bet they're dead bumpy' if we ever say about the speed :). It's not the most difficult or prestigious course in the world, but the condition is immaculate and more than justifies the cost of membership.

Weekend for me long drive tomorrow down to Birmingham playing at West Midlands not the greatest but it will do

Then a big north vs south match at forest of Arden on Sunday with another forum

Can't wait for it!

no potentially about it IMO

even Augusta seems to have got things to 'legendary' status, but they aren't often up at 14 now they have everything so under control (most of the time!).

as you alude, good greens are true greens where the ball will roll out well - this normally equates to between 10-12 depending on the contours of the greens; there's normally a pace that just seems right for a particular course.

Off to our caravan for a couple of nights so 2 days without golf for me - yikes!! Normal service resumes on Sunday afternoon and then Greensomes comp on Monday. 36 holes planned for Tuesday then a match on Thursday and Friday...forecast looking good for the week ahead!

real North South divide this weekend, South is sunny and 20* North is wet, very wet, more wet forecast and about 9* colder than down south

which course is this with 13 on stimp greens? Thats unreal!!

Quickest i have played is probably Hindhead (in the Mens scratch event) or Liphook in the height of summer. I think they were running at 13 and it played havoc with your putting stroke as it turned into a 'stab' rather than a stroke!

enjoy regardless, the weather looks lovely this weekend!

The course manager has his 'Master Greenkeeper' status, and is one of only 60 or so in the world to do so. He's got a decent agronomy blog if you're interested - http://egcagronomy.blogspot.co.uk/

He posted a pic of the 11th this morning which I assure you will be just about as fast a green as you'll play in the UK - https://twitter.com/gregevansmg/status/330243209269743616/photo/1

Awesome! might have to make the trip down the M4!

Lesson tonight to remedy an outbreak of the socket rockets. Hit it better thanks to the pro giving me a drill but no confidence and got a big weekend of comps so decided it needs sorting. Monthly stableford tomorrow and in the Jubilee Cup at my place (pairs better ball) with Hawkeye on Sunday. I won this a few years back with HTL for those who remember him. Hoping for a repeat as he is beginning to play well and I feel I'm not to far away when I'm not going right.

Monday is a big social comp so having a lie in and then working on chipping and putting PM
