Been playing Ping G15's for about 7 years now, thought it was time to try something new. Have test driven the new i200 7 iron a couple of times and really like it, but thought I'd try a few others for comparison. Off down to Silvermere first thing tomorrow where I can see for real how the ball flies, and try everything under the sun. Been browsing clubs in the local AG, also very much like the look of the Mizuno JPX Tour all be it a little smaller head size than the Ping. Gonna be a let down if they don't work for me as not very taken with the TM M2 or the Callaway options.......

I know I should only go with something that improves what I'm currently using, but it's a big old candy shop, and there's a severe risk that I could be blinded by the light...... Very much looking forward to a fun couple of hours though.

Have fun. I did an iron fitting for the first time last year. I really enjoyed it and it was a revelation. Totally different from what I expected.
A new set every 7 years? Go nuts and treat yourself! :D :one:

Quite fancied the Mizuno JPX Tour when I had my Mizuno fitting, but the numbers were much better with the MP-25. I know what you say about not fancying certain ones but keep an open mind, they look much prettier if they are flying right ;)

Well, what won…………. :D

A couple of surprises for me today. The first, and biggest surprise of the day was my need to change from regular to stiff shafts. My swing speed on irons was 89.7mph, way more than my previous fittings. Once we established that, I tried a number of irons including: i200, JPXTour, Apex cfs, p7700 and AP1. All of them were hitting a similar distance, between 166 - 175 yds. Was very pleased with my ballstriking in general, but one club was just on the mark for both dispersion and feel ....... that was the Apex cfs, very impressed with the club.

Not best pleased with the quote for irons from Silvermere - £805 notes. Assuming that the Apex CF16 is the same club, there are many better prices out there. Also need to upgrade my hybrids and woods to stiff shafts too, an expensive spend pending methinks😲😲🏌️⛳

I got a fitting today as well, came down to the JPX 900 forged and the Apex's.

Nothinv between the two but couldn't believe how hot the Apex's came off the face, that said I went for JPX's as they felt more consistent. I felt like I'd get the odd shot that went miles with the Apex.

Should be, the Apex lineup to my knowledge is Apex CF16, Apex Pro 16 and Apex MB.

£805 seems steep and you're right, plenty of chances to get a custom build cheaper

Wasn't sure whether to continue posting this thread, the "AG double trade in thread", or "the what have I bought today thread" :). With a bit of jiggery pokery I think I've come out with a great deal. Found the best price online, went to AG, they matched the online price and then offered double part ex on old irons (£160 for Ping G15's), in addition they offered double on my driver (£95 for Callaway XR) and two hybrids (£65 each for Callaway XR). Was tempted to order right there, but wanted to have a word with my club pro first. I like to put business through him if I can, and will always give him a chance prior to any big order. He had a look at the deal, mulled it over for a few minutes and has price matched the whole caboodle. So I've ordered the custom fitted Apex irons, a new XR16 driver, new XR16 3 wood and new XR16 5 hybrid for approx £850. That's just outside the budget I had planned for the fitting - based on AG retail prices in general before knowing what I was being fitted for, and I wasn't planning on fitting the whole bag, needless to say, I'm very happy with the outcome.

As you mentioned in your first post, " it is a big old candy shop". What you have done is what I mentioned on here a few days ago. A guy was looking for some new Titliest and I suggested he goes with an open mind. Also going back to pro and buying from him, big up respect to pro and yourself.

Good luck with them.

They were all ordered on Monday morning. Had a call from the pro shop at 10 this morning telling me they had arrived and were looking very smart. Less than 48 hours to turn them around and deliver, great service from Callaway. Can't get to them until Friday though :(
