I know ebay gets a hammering on here from some, but have just experienced some excellent service that deserves a mention.

I bought a new pair of Adidas Tour 360 II from an ebay seller back in August. Actually the shop is Rob Johnston at Saddleworth Golf Club. The other week I wore the shoes to play, and whilst not raining, the ground was very wet. During the round my feet started to get a tad sloshy, and when I got back at the end, was lucky not to be suffering from Trenchfoot. Very disappointed in the shoes as have been an Adidas man for many years. Anyways, found Rob's details on ebay and contacted him. No problem, please send the shoes back to him and he would liaise with Adidas.

Shoes have been replaced with a brand new pair of Tour 360 4.0, and the original pair I purchased have also been returned to me to wear on dry days. Thanks very much Rob, excellent service.

Indeed - I bought a pair of Nike dri-fit golf trousers from a seller going by the name of "DouDouPlayRugby" on ebay, and the trousers never turned up.

Unfortunately, the trousers were supposed to be delivered to my parents address in the UK and I thought they had arrived, however, I found out too late and despite the fact I had bought them using the so called "protection" of paypal, it was too late (60 days?) for me to lodge a complant and get my money back.

Suffice to say I will not be using ebay again!!

Top drawer service from a golf shop. Well done to the shop.

What's that got to do with ebay (who are a load of ..... bags)?

The purchase was all done through ebay. Rob has an ebay shop, I didn't realize he had a physical golf shop at the time of purchase.

Whilst I am really happy you had a good experience, you have still in reality bought from a pukka golf shop, and got the service which goes with it. I would have no hesitation in buying from a shop off ebay (and most of the time they are easy to spot). It is the individual traders who are the scammers (not all, but I have had a few bad experiences, mainly with ladies selling stuff who appear to be more unscrupulous).

If, heaven forbid you ever end up in dispute with ebay itself, you will find out about their customer service.
