Ever seen someone stomp off the course?

I hadn't until Sunday's mug, we see a bloke we know walking out of the gates, ask what's up & he just says "I'm going home"
Later we discover he didn't declare a provisional that he hit as being one, then he found his 1st ball but was pulled up by one of his playing partners (a bloke he didn't know but who did know the rules) who insisted he had to play his 2nd ball i.e playing his 4th shot, he reacted by dropping his score card on the grass & stomping off in a huff!
He had got a lift to the club so it was shank's pony to get home.

I have been the one walking off the course lol never due to anyone elses doing always down to frustration at my own poor play. I have started forcing myself to play through the bad patches now though

Funny, someone mentioned on another thread about players who don't declare a provisional who are basically trying it on. Sounds like this guy was trying that and had no answer to being called up on it.

We had a member[ now a ex member] who walk off the 1st tee after putting 3 balls OOB, leaving his signed on visitor alone.
We asked the guy to join our group , but found out later we could have been in trouble, as a signed on visitor must play in the same game as the member who signed him on.

Surely the committee would of seen the situation for what it was and you guys where actually doing the honorable thing lol

I would have hoped so, but you NEVER know with council people, common sense is not involved , more than their jobs worth you know.

I would have hoped so, but you NEVER know with council people, common sense is not involved , more than their jobs worth you know.

Surely even a jobsworth can see the logic in keeping a fee paying guest happy and therefore a chance of returning and paying more cash than hacking him (and you) off. Profit above all is a mantra in councils surely

I felt like walking off on Sunday. par 3, 160 yards - 1st was thinned and hit the ladies tee marker and fired off OOB, 3rd landed near the green but mis-hit the chip as it fired the ball like a missile over the green, down the bank and into the meanest pot bunker. 4 stokes later and the ball has returned to the bunker for the fourth time after rolling off the green yet again. So a ten on the card.

Then on the next hole I was 5 off the tee...

In the perfect world yes , but we are talking private members club committee / council who work by the book with no exceptions.
Logic and common sense were in short supply. Some of the rules have since been changed , but if you break any extant rule you will be pulled in.

Ah but you assume that councils think like proper businesses. Whereas the proper business has to think about the income they are going to receive the council simply thinks "Oh well we'll put up Council Tax by £5 next year to cover the loss". If it was their own money they might be more careful with it.

They work by the book unless it is a friend or one of them that has broken the rules....... or is that just certain clubs lol

I book a few Society events for guys at work and have found 1 council run course a nightmare, not willing to budge on their 12 people minimum rule, which has stopped us playing there the last 3 years. All the other courses I have dealt with have been very accommodating.
