hi guys, got a question, have any of you guys bought new clubs, irons specifically, and found when you got to the range/course your struggling to use them for what ever reason??

Whats happened to me was, i was fitted for jpx825's 2*up 1/2" longer, fitting day i was nailing it, getting good stats on the DNA machine, had 3 or 4 sessions with the fitter before getting them, and each of those 4 times i was really seeing the benefit. But now i have them on the course for 3 rounds, each round i keep topping the ball EVERY shot, and at the range i hit them okish but they all are flying left (which is me im sure)

anyone else had this or any other problem with new clubs and what did you do to over come

it took me ages to adjust to my last set, i reckon about ten range sessions, almost threw them in the bin at one point! just persevere.. The transition to my latest set has been quick and easy, they were not dis-similar to be honest, just have a fitted shaft now.

i had the same thing with my JPX 825 Pro, took a few rounds but then purchased Ping G25 and felt better first round using them

I think the JPX 825 are a great club, smaller head and take a while to adjust too

I have kept my 825 Pro irons as the offers to sell them were an insult !

I like the easier to hit G25 as they are very predictable

When the Ping i15 irons came out I got fitted at a local stockist.
Hit the ball well on the fitting session - basic fit was 2 deg up and 1/2 inch longer.
Now whether I was swinging very differently on the day or they wrote down the wrong spec or they were made incorrectly I don't know but when I got them I may as well have been using a plank of wood as I couldn't make a decent contact to save my life...tried in vain for a couple of weeks but nothing improved. I completely lost confidence in the clubs, ended up selling them for what I paid and getting fitted by Mizuno instead - their spec was also 1/2 inch long but 1 deg flat (allowing for the difference in standard it was still 2 deg out) and I began to hit the ball well again.
Bad fit, bad swing, bad manufacture - whatever it was I couldn't use them.

I've had the exact same problem as you mate! Last year I got fitted for some rocketbladez at American golf, 1/2" longer and 2*up, hit them fine in the shop ect but when I took them to the course I was topping everything! But because I'd just forked out nearly £900 on some new all singing all dancing irons I never put it down to them!, it was only until I had my first lesson with the pro that he told me how they were completely wrong for me!!!!
Needless to say they've now been sold and am now waiting the arrival of my new correctly fitted cobra amp cells!
Lesson learnt is to never trust american golf for a fitting!!

I'm not so sure. If you're topping them I think it's perhaps more you than the club. New clubs may take a little getting used to in terms of distance, flight, feel etc but unless they're set up drastically different I don't see too many adverse effects? It might just be in your head, if you were flushing them in your lessons, no reason you can't still do that.

Had the same problem after being fitted for my last set of irons, couldn`t hit them to save my life.
Spoke to pro and he reckons it takes 6 to 8 rounds to get used to them, think it took me more like 10 rounds but then had no problems.
Persevere !!!!!!!!

fitted for Mizuno MP53's with nippon 950 shafts, didnt like the loss of distance from my old mizzies, went back to fitter- upshot was I traded them for MP69's with X100 shafts and loved the strike, launch and distance. If its in your head their not right, it will always be in your head methinks

see the hogan quote bottom of my sig:smirk:

Took me a while to get used to my Mizuno MP63's.

What helped me get past it was:

a) Plenty of range and playing time

b) A battery of lessons

c) They were custom fit.

Now I've gotten used to the distance gaps and the 'feel' of them, couple that with the lessons and I'm now more than happy.

I couldn't hit mine when I was fitted, the pro must of thought I was stupid. So it was no surprise to me when I couldn't play with them. I didn't give up and 6 months on I strike them longer and straighter than my previous that had 2 degrees stronger lofts. You might be swinging too hard trying to justify your purchase.

This is one of the reasons im punting the TM's in my signature, I like them and get on well with but in my head I want something else. Now have the Adams A12 pro and like the look and I strike them well also, even with the supposedly harsh KBS tour shaft.
