I went to our practice area this morning its about 170 yards long and has a green at the end with 2 flags.

Having been down there a lot in the winter as soon as its light enough I was really struggling to get 110 yards with a wedge I believe due to the cold conditions I suppose,i suspect it was about 5 degrees or so.

Today at 6am it was 15 degrees and a wedge was going comfortably 122+.

I then practiced 90,75,65 55 and found it nigh on impossible to stop the ball quickly when a couple of weeks back the ground was slightly softer I could.

I understand from my dad our course has hardened up considerably just in the last 2 days and is running so fast.

I believe practicing in condition regularly where they are changing constantly really can help.

I was down the range at 6am and the course already had 2 groups on it,may hay why the sun shines I say.

Do you try to keep on top of your game when condition are changing and whats the earliest you have been on a course playing.

been out at 6 plety of times, our course has firmed up alot in recent weeks. 28 and sunny today isnt giong to change that. even our longest par 4 at 470 uphill is no problem to reach at the moment with a drive and mid iron. as long aas I hit the fariway... my regular tee time is 7:30 on a sunday, altough playing today in a 4bbb match at midday, its going to be a warm one

air temp makes a huge difference to distance. I find the course is at least 2 or 3 clubs more in the winter.

They've been fairly liberal with the sprinklers this summer as in previous years our greens have scorched badly.
So they're pretty soft a lot of the time but the fairways are firm....not a good combination.
You have to hit the green but you have to be pin high...

Been out well before 6.00am regularly usually in the week if I have a day off and want to get round before the seniors and roll ups start so I can then do some practice and still be home for lunch. We only have flags on the practice ground but I'll wander to different yardages and play into the nearest flag. It isn't stopping as it's similar to landing on the fairway so I just use it to pick a landing spot and if it then runs on that's fine, knowing on the greens, which are being watered in this heat, will be more receptive

Our course in about two weeks went from 12 degrees and really wet, actually had plugged lies in July, due to the mental amounts of rain here.

Now the course is playing firm and fast, played Thursday night and really struggled with the short game due to the massive change. Hopefully will adjust to the conditions over the next few rounds.

But nice to have summer conditions!
