Does anyone know what the time 'targets' were for these events, the article just lists a few small improvements year on year.
Nowt about how long a round was or if these minor improvements were simply due to increased monitoring or what other initiatives might have contributed

They certainly seem very pleased with themselves for a round being 5 minutes quicker

Every little helps......;)

Indeed although a 5 minute improvement for half the field can be largely obtained simply by eliminating one incident that required a referee coming from 4 holes away last year that didn't crop up this year, no player involvement in it

As you say any time shaved is good, hope it continues

funnily enough one of the guys i play with is an R&A member and on the rules committee, he also is a rules official for the Open and the Scottish open and we spoke about this the other day.

He said they are aware of the main culprits and what he had heard was the pre shot routine is which is the problem, but not being addressed they are just rushing between shots with caddies players almost running to the ball

I was watching the closing groups in the Tshwane Open last night, some of the lads seemed plenty slow over the ball, same for some of the guys putting at last weeks PGA event (inc the winner)

cant recall who it was but watching someone putt from the fringe after a drop on the european tour, must have taken 5 mins+, do their playing partners not have the balls to tell them to hurry up, personally I'd have said and have said in the past, are you going to play that today.

WESTY hit the nail on the head last week when asked about slow play he said " be ready to play your ball when its your turn" that goes for every golfer, simples.

It did seem like it flowed a lot better in Dubai last week.
Only delays were when players were waiting for the official to let them know that the 17th green was clear
