Anyone watching? Love watching this golf course but been a tough start for the big names. Sergio +1 after 3 started with 2 bogeys, Fleetwood doubled the first, and Rose who started well has just found the fairway bunker with a poor tee shot on the 3rd. Pressure getting the better of them so far. Hopefully they'll pick up, really want Fleetwood to have a good week and finish off what's been an excellent season for him.

So if Justin Rose had gone to South Africa he pretty much would have secured Race to Dubai champion with the guarenteed cash.

It is not really hindsight, not sure how players can turn down playing in the biggest events at the end of the Europeans season.

Really does reflect poorly on the European Tour IMO.

Perhaps too much travel is the issue and needs to be looked at.

chuffed for Fleetwood, bit simplistic re Rose, they have to have a break at some stage and Rose played a lot of golf of late across the globe

Of course but the top players taking breaks during the premier events in the Race to Dubai... it shows how much worth the top players give the European Tour

Plenty of players also take a break during the Fed Ex play offs - it’s called managing the schedule to ensure being in top form and to minimise travel time at this stage.

Very rarely if ever will leading players play four weeks on the bounce.

Didn't Rose play (and win) in China and Turkey.

At the end of a long season it would be foolish to attempt four in a row and not expect burn out.

How many of the top players did play all of those events?

Rose played 3 tournies in August, 3 in September (culminating in the tour champs). Since then played the WGC in China, the Turkish airlines and this in Dubai.

not sure anyone else will have played as many big tournies in the latter part of the season

Hard to argue. Rose has played a lot of golf worldwide and has clearly picked a reasonably full diary at the end of the season to have a tilt at the Race to Dubai. I think he has certainly paid his dues to the ET over the years and does try and balance being based in the US with trying to play a global schedule
