I've not played overseas before but now i have an opportunity due to redundancy,
looking at nov/dec really, hopefully my old man will be well enough for a game,
So the interweb is full of sites and i've no idea where to start looking, do you go to a dedicated golf package site where they sort everything, or do you sort your flights, hotels, games separately ?

Any recommendations appreciated

La Cala has everything - hotel and courses surrounding it

Golf breaks is a good place and of course their is your golf travel

We've always used Your Golf Travel or Golfbreaks for hotel, golf & transfers then booked the flights ourselves. There are thousands of different packages so best off narrowing it down to at least type/quality of courses and hotels plus what weather you're looking for and bars/restaurants in the area.

I have used Your Golf Travel for a number of years and they have always been very good. Just used them to book our portugal trip in March. We booked the Sao Rafael resort in the Algarve. Very reasonable and all inclusive.

If you use any of the golf companies go online and check costs of flights first.going say tues to tues may be a lot lot cheaper than fri to fri. The golf companies can book your holiday to suit you.
played the Algarve and it ticked a lot of boxes for me re courses, resturaunts, bars shops etc.

Nov/Dec might be a bit cool in Portugal/Spain so you might want to go slightly further afield, Turkey & Cyprus are good for golf & about 4.5 hours away or if you're feeling flush you could look at Dubai

I have played in Portugal, Spain and Turkey.
If I were looking to book a foreign trip again, Turkey would win hands down.
The welcome, food, courses etc. were fantastic.
They are fairly new to the golf package thing compared to the others, and don't take anything for granted.

I have never played in Turkey before so I don't know about golf out there, but from previous holidays in Turkey I would recommend it to anyone.

As you say the food is great and the welcome you get is even better. Everywhere I went in Turkey the staff would do everything they could to ensure you had a good time, one of the most friendly and welcoming place's I have visited. Would love to go there for a golf trip!

I usually put my own package together (flight/hotel/car) using either expedia or ebookers or skyscanner when I go to Myrtle Beach then just book golf online. I know it's a bit further afield but it can work out very good value compared to some of the European destinations when you total it up. Food/petrol/green fees are all cheap out there and most airlines don't charge to take your clubs on trans atlantic flights.
