Ok consciously or not which area/aspect of golf etiquette do you flaunt most often? (I'm making the assumption that there are no Saints in golf)

i.e.
  • Not letting a group behind through?
  • Taking your shot early to 'speed up' the group in front?
  • Not watching another players shot?
  • Over emotional after a bad shot?
  • A.N other? (there's obviously lots to choose from)
For me it would be leaning on putter when retreiving ball from the hole

I'm not suggesting that by contributing to the thread we'll assume you make this breach 100% of the time, simply that you've done it and are willing to admit to it. This is for fun & interest not retribution

Club throwing, in my younger days. Restrict myself to swearing like a docker now. Drop the F-bomb regularly and even the occasional C-bomb :o Only in firendly games with mates though. Never in comps with people I don't know well.

If I had to say I do something it would be maybe hitting tee shots too early so it goes up the people infront, if they are clearly holding me up and not gonna let me through. I never do it when there is a risk of actually hitting them but maybe getting really close to the group in front to try and get through.

That is my little dark confession. If I do anything else it is by pure accident and I do not know I do it.

I'll also admit to not raking bunkers

My justification is that there's no rakes on my course (although I could add my own plastic one to my trolly if I really wanted to stick to the code)

Occasionally not looking when a player hits his shot but that's rare. Occasionally throwing a ball into the rough after a bad hole. A common one for me is making sure I'm last to the bar ;-)

Over reaction to bad shots definitely, which disappoints me. Thrown a few clubs and sworn like a sailor.

The occasional 12 inch divot when I've dipped the right shoulder on the way through the ball, and dragged the club head through the fairway to make contact with the ball, to bump it 15 yards. Never enough sand in the bucket to fill them bad boys!

Possibly moving around too much on the greens, get self-conscious about that. Never been told I'm in the way or anything, but sometimes you feel like you're stood in the wrong place.

I would say that would have the opposite effect on lots of golfers, including myself.

It is done out of frustration rather ignorance Bob. I'm not the type that thinks you should run round the course, but on the other hand it is so bloody annoying when you are a 2-ball following a 4-ball that has an empty course in front of them.

Im ashamed to say that I dont always replace divots. However, in my defence, replacing divots on dry ground in the middle of summer is pointless as the divot either curls up and dies, or the birds turn them over... I should still do it though...

Oh noooooo, I can feel another slow play debate coming! It's Friday, can we talk about something nice? ;)

I confess to trolley wheel kicking sometimes when I'm having a mare. What is perhaps worse is that it is only when it's just David and I as if we're with others I behave in a far more ladylike manner !

Occasionally not paying attention to a playing partners shot but again that's likely to be David's as I'm hopping about on one foot having wellied my trolley wheel too hard ! :o

If you landed one near me, you'd get it fired straight back

Leaving aside the rights/wrongs of firing one right up-em (no retribution remember) I think everyone would agree that responding by 'returing fire' is also poor form ;)

I never hit one that can actually hit the people in front but it is close enough to hear it and it is certainly not something that I have done very often. Sorry but the question has been put up and I am just being honest. It is OK jumping on my back for it but hey who is showing the worst etiquette? Am I wrong to get annoyed by a 4-ball with an empty course ahead of them making my 2-ball game take over 2 hours to play 9 holes?

But hey it is a Friday so lets not start the big slow play debate. Crack open a beer and chill out.....
