Evening gents,
So we're getting our house renovated at the moment and it's a bit of a building site but we hung in over the last 5 weeks and with home straight in site I took my pregnant wife on holiday to the Seychelles.
She booked the trip but with her wonderful vision she booked us into the Lemuria resort in Praslin which is a slightly smaller island than the main island in the Seychelles Mahe.
The good news about the Lemuria was that it is the only 18 hole Championship golf course on all of the 105 islands.
Wife is definitely in the good books!!
The golf was free for the round and the only supplement was the golf cart which worked out at £30 per round.
I played every other day and each time got out at 7am when the weather wasn't so hot, a cool 25 degrees was perfect and with no one else on the course it was truly magnificent.
The first 12 holes are on the hotel side of the mountain and are relatively flat and each hole winds it's way through the tropics with real flow and beauty. Quite a short course, totalling 6000 yards from the tips.
On reaching the 13th you start to go up over the mountain.
The first picture is the tee box hitting out towards the uphill again 14th.... at the end of that hole you stay up there and climb a small rocky stairwell to play the 15th par 3 which is 155yds with a 200ft drop onto a green. Probably the only time i'll play a wedge at that distance.
The beach and ocean to the left is 'Anse Georgette' a place of absolute beauty. Left the cart down the bottom at the green and took off for half hour to enjoy the empty beach...
The last picture is the tee box onto the par 5 18th taking you back to the resort, a difficult fairway to hit from such a high tee position.
Truly fantastic golf and a great resort. If you ever thought being out here in the sticks would be boring I can assure you if you get to stay here there's no better place to play early morning golf....
Now to get back to blighty and enjoy this sun you've all been having today!!!

My thoughts at first, she's just a top girl. Easy to say that!
Besides, it was my card that paid for the 10 days out here :p

I had a feeling these comments would follow haha. No cravings yet, just a good appetite. I still can't get her out the gym and to stop doing things, she is busier than ever!
At least for the first year baba can't walk, it's when they start walking and becoming far to interested in things that don't concern them I think the golf will stop!!!
Let me enjoy it while I can.

Not at all, no one out for hours.
Tried a 3pm tee off on the last day, it was a joke. I was stuck behind many many 2 somes from newbies to a German elderly couple resembling more Bernard Clanger. He was hitting everything but the grass in front of him but he wouldn't wave me through bless him, but i didnt have a care in the world because i was happy to be out and be there.
Hope you didn't hold up play:ears:
Congratulations on the impending arrival, still get s good year + golfing yet though:D

Indeed!
Not bad, first 2 rounds I knocked in on the green and 2 putted both times. The ball sits up in the air for what seems like forever then thuds back down to earth.
The last time I tried a 52 degree and I was short in the bunker and got out and then up and down so par, par, bogey.
If carling made girlfriends! Tell us how did you get on with that par 3?

Your signature is a tad hard to read. I hope you haven't got a handicap cut yet !!

Nah not quite. . A slight handicap increase.. due to the car crash on Wednesday morning in the mid week stableford. Started off solid with a par par tap in birdie then on the fourth touched the ball with my wedge in front of the green, I pulled it up with the chap I was playing with and he said no penalty if you were only addressing the ball and thanked me for being honest. I didnt feel right excepting this, missed the putt for par. After that my mind was off in fairy land somewhere, and after the dissappearing act from the provee, just off the green on 9, 13pts. Managed to slip down the bank on 13 twinging my back, pulled a tiger and the walk of shame on the 14th.

Looking forward to the weekend, stableford cup tomorrow then a match against the juniors on Sunday, plenty of opportunity for redemption!

Ahhh sweet memories

Haha Richard I'll be the first to admit the handicap is way on the high side. That's what my scorecards read and came back with and I'll be the first to say Coombe hill is bloody hard!
It does however make entering these comps whether for social or not difficult because I'm an honest lad and just want to play better golf... Guess I'll have to get over it and sucker up the bandit heckles for the time being until the handicap gets down in the teens

This from a 26 handicapper.

There were questions asked about your '18' handicap at West Hill Craig ! Hopefully you will get to play some competitions at C H, and get a proper handicap. Remember real men don't get more than one shot a hole.

I believe your goading me young man :p
I do my best to make the swing look good, whatever the consequences of the ball!!!
See you in Berkshire with that 26 ;)
