I got in to golf in november, bought some 2nd had gear etc, played for a couple months, enjoyed it so bought some new gear, i did have a cheapo driver which i got fairly confident with, i tried out a Fly Z and was really hitting it well, before buying it i tested a Taylormade R15 and the numbers i was getting on the monitor were really good, so i decided to buy that instead, after a few games I really didnt get on with it at all, was really hit and miss, so i sold it and bought the Fly Z, ive plaid about 6-7 rounds now with the Fly Z and its so erratic its unreal, 1 shot it will slice like mad, the next shot it will go perfect, then it will be shooting off to the left and so on, not 1 single shot is ever the same, any ideas what would be causing this? like i say when i tested it out it was hitting it really really well, and ive never ever hit a ball with a slice until i started using this driver! really winding me up!

It's the indian not the arrow. My guess would be that you are altering things after a bad shot and if that goes well you try and remember that resulting in a pull and then in an attempt to compensate again go back to slice and repeat.

A shonky swing.
A golf club cannot psychically change it's dynamics from one shot to the next, but your swing can (and will).

Im no pro but it sounds like your swing is inconsistant so the clubs coming through at different paths .the best thing I ever did was have lessons it transformed my game played awfull the last few weekends mind but that's golf 👍.

You are hitting the ball in different parts of the face. this will give rise to the different flights from seemingly same swings.

what i dont understand is i was very consistent with my cheap driver, and i was very consistent with the demo fly Z so i dont understand whats gone wrong, i did have a lesson in January, i was told not a lot wrong, but changed my grip from baseball type grip to the locked fingers (vadron?) grip which really messed up my game, its took weeks to get my normal technique back after giving up trying with the linked grip, maybe that has something to do with it

if you have small girly hands then the baseball grip is fine, the interlocking grip was good enough for Tiger and Jack so I'm guessing that it would work for most folk, the overlapping (Vardon) grip is good for people with long hands.
As others have suggested (unless the club is damaged) it's not the club! It's your swing, welcome to golf the most inconsistent game of them all, one day your brilliant the next your rotten.

I have a Cobra Fly Z driver and it's easily the most accurate and consistent driver I have ever owned. Suggest the problem is the nut on the end of the grip! :)

Had my Fly Z a couple of months now. Changed from the Amp Cell. I didnt like the stock shaft so fitted my Prolaunch shaft from my Amp Cell and my driving is probably my strongest part of my game now. But if i put a wonky swing on it the club is not going to save me. I found my driving very erratic when i try to hit the ball. I find now just trying to swing easy the ball gives me great results. My accuracy and distance have improved greatly with the same swing with my old amp. Try a few easy swings well within yourself and try and work on contact. Maybe worth a launch monitor lesson to see where your contacting the ball on the clubface.

I recently bought a FlyZ as well (in the girlie version, of course, in a nice aquamarine blue). I find it very forgiving and easy to hit. If it goes wrong (for me that's a high slice on most occasions) that's me, not the club. I had the same miss with my old driver, it just did not go quite as far and therefore I got away with it more often  For me also the best strategy is to swing it easy and concentrate on finding the middle of the face. The club takes care of the rest. I am still in awe how far my drives go now, even (or especially) when I feel that I did not swing it very hard.

That said, did you adjust the loft to match the demo club you tried?

Best way to cure an erratic driver is to buy a new one

Yes this worked for me...

Cobra amp cell
Celeveland Classic
Callaway X2Hot
TM SLDR MINI
Ping G25
Ping G30 SF Tec
Ping G10
SLDR S
TM Aeroburner mini
TM R15

Three lessons and iv changed my grip swing path and dropped 8shots

kept the R15 and Aeroburner mini cause i love the feel of them

but anyother driver on that list could have dove the job...

its been fun buying and selling drivers Im known by First Name at My local AG
but i could have used that time having lessons and understanding swing path and set up....

iv heard some great things about Fly z... But if it doesnt suit you get rid...
Ive found that a sfiffer heavier shaft has made me more consistent

Also the TM mini helped me find some good positions in my swing and has helped my driving come along for sure..
i now use it to deverstating affect.. Chopped down a 500yard Tight par 5 yesterday for an eagle putt with just two blows of the thing.

i still loose some right... But its just a bad swing i put on it...

but i I understand where u r coming from i hated all three of my Ping drivers because they all, to me felt dead off the face...
