England v Sri Lanka

Great stuff from Jonny Bairstow, rapidly turning into a great lower order batsman. Shame Alex Hales couldnt complete his hundred as well.

As expected, Sri Lanka's batting has struggled in the cold and chill of mid May England!

I think there is a real problem developing in test cricket where the home teams are dominating. We beat India, Australia, S. Africa, Sri Lanka very comfortably at home, lose to the same teams away. This problem is repeated by all of these teams. Conditions have always been rigged for the home team, whoever it is, but the players seem less able to cope in overseas conditions. It is a shame as series are now becoming predictable.

Agree on Bairstow. Ali's place must be up for grabs though. Failing on all accounts recently.

Forgotten last winter? And England won in India last time there as well. (Although beating India in a test series isnt much to crow about anymore)

I get your point but Sri Lanka were always going to struggle. They've lost their star batsmen although their bowling's not bad. They are like New Zealand in that they are picking from a small pool so when they lose the likes of Sangakkara and Jayawardene they are naturally going to struggle.

Pakistan will be a better test i think. An attack of Amir, Irfan and Wahab should be very testing for England.

Very clinical from England after the rain break. Pleased Finn got some wickets as moany Boycott was banging on about his bowling earlier.

Jimmy Anderson proving the master of bowling in English conditions again. A brilliant performance!

Tongo, I had forgotten. Fair enough. I think it is more than a half decent point but there is the odd exception and to win in India was a great effort. Pakistan will be an interesting one, particularly if the summer is a good one and the pitches bake. Predictability in sport is never good so away teams winning is good every so often.

Clinical performance but bigger tests than Sri Lanka lie ahead

Only 2 batters got runs, the 2 main bowlers got almost all the wickets, Stokes pulled up injured and we dropped several catches including a couple of sitters this morning

A very comprehensive win in conditions that suit for sure, not sure Id say they were clinical though. But lets be honest most of Sri Lankas batters never played in conditions where it swings like it has at Headingley and they look badly exposed with Sanga and Jayaw retired
