england v Ireland.

Don't like the new kit much.

Prediction, England win 4-2

Frank to equal or better Shearers record tonight :)

I suppose there is some point to Oxlade Chamberlain but after 35 mins I haven't seen it; nor any other time I have seen him play.

Pace yes, but no vision and little other ability IMO.

Can't be bothered with pointless friendlies. If I had the fortune to be an English international I would have phoned in a sickie.

Well that was suitably uninspiring wasn't it......

What did you expect from a team set up by Roy Hodgson?

That squad of players are good enough to win that game but his tactics are soooo negative i still can't believe he's Englands manager.

But he's a nice man and deserves the job if you believe the press.

#RoyHodgson tactical genius....

I gave up watching England a long time ago perennial under achieves with a bunch of overrated prima-donnas. Stick to my other country courtesy of Italian family. That said I actually like England's new kit it's very err German much like ones worn by Gerd Muller & Beckenbauer.

Wondered how long it would take before we saw a Sack Hodgson post.
How many matches has he bossed?
Where are England in the WC qualifiers?

Unless I've read this thread wrong I didn't see a single sack Hodgson post!

As I said didn't see the game but from what I heard England had chances to win but just couldn't put them away

TBF, friendlies are about trying things, different tactics, various playing combinations and much more. OK not the result we want but there was some good football played at times and he's far from my favourite player, and this hurts, but, Rooney had a very good game, his vision and delivery sitting in that hole with a certain amount of freedom, along with Carrick at times was excellent.

Oxlade is still learning his trade and is work in progress but will come good, Baines didn't do enough for me when he came on, got behind them at times but delivered poor crosses.

First showing after a very busy premiership campaign for many of the players, I think we can take positive things from it, and that's the main thing, hopefully Roy learned something with what he may have been trying at times, we'll just have to see.

Me too, I don't bother with competitive England matches so I am certainly not going to waste 2 hours of my life on a friendly. It's just so predictable, they always get out of their group in major championships and then lose against a technically more skilful (i.e. most teams nowadays) side.

They will then sack their English manager as he has not tactical ability and decide they want a foreigner with some technical nous, after 3 years they will then sack him as they want an English man who understands the English mentality and can motivate the players, then after 3 years they will sack him as he is technically and tactically inept so they will appoint a foreign manager, who then gets sacked after 3 years as he does not understand the English mentality etc etc etc repeat until they are ranked below the Faeroe Islands.

LOL. Also if in my job I made as many mistakes as an England player during a game I'd be sacked. How hard is it to play pass and move. The Spanish seem to manage it ok. I wouldn't watch England if they were playing in my back garden. Overpaid wasters the lot of 'em.

I too thought that Rooney had a really good game - worked tirelessly as well in the first and second half. I'm not convinced with Baines, just doesn't deliver good enough crosses and found wanting at International level. Thought Chamberlain had his best game for England so far - needs to work on that final pass though, but has youth on his side.

I still say that Walcott is not used effectively enough, with his pace he can rip teams apart - as long as he's not played in a more defensive role, as he seemed to be last night.

Ashley Cole was so close to scoring what would have been a wonderful goal for his 100th cap!
