I really can't understand the thinking behind leaving Kane out of the England squad , thats a good way of giving him confidence, probably the best English goalscorer this season and what does Hodgson do ? Stick him in the under 21s

So much for looking to the future, Kane might turn out to be a one season wonder but at this stage to leave him out of the England squad is beyond belief.

For years we've been told how important it is for young players to gain Tournament experience, and that we should follow the Spanish & German models of playing our best U21 side in a Tournament regardless of whether the player is a regular Full International or not, so that we are able to ingrain a winning mentality in our younger players which will hopefully carry through to World Cups & European Championships.
I personally believe that every eligible player, if selected, should have to play U21 tournaments, on paper we would have a very, very good side

Agreed, why hasn't Barkley been taken by the U21's he is eligible and like you say it would not only valuable tournament experience but our future full team players the chance to work together

Keane himself wanted to go.

Say way we get to the later stages. What will do him best. Scoring in a penalty shoot out, or winning against an East European nobody.......?

I thought the decision had been agreed a while back that he'd play in the U21 tournament
