Well done England.
For the last few days i have been listening to everyone slagging off England,
and dismissing there chance against Spain.
All the so called experts saying it could be a rout.
Well they all forgot the Bulldog spirit.
Ok it wasnt vintage, but we ground out a result, against the odds.
Parker,lescott and Jagelka were immense.
Also a little bit of credit to Capello for his tactics, and missing his sons
wedding.
Still cant wait till hes gone and Harry comes in,but im savouring the moment.
Also good results for Scotland,Wales and the Repulic.

it was a friendly and in the whole we looked average imho

not much creativity and Bent up front on his own = aint much gonna happen.

Defence done well though but I would love to see England go for it a bit more instead of paying too much respect to the opposition

Brilliant rearguard from the England defence. Didn't allow the Spanish strikers any room. Up front we were very disappointing but that was through no fault of the strikers as the ball was not up there enough. Not a masterclass performance but true grit was shown and was nice to beat the world and European champs.

I thought that without a few 'stars' that we then depended on some guys coming in, and doing the job the manager asked them to do. It worked. Lucky goal, but on the whole, they looked pretty solid. Not exciting, but solid.

Don't think they will beat Spain in competition any time soon though.

as a football fan i reserve the right to state either:

a. It was only a friendly and unimportant

or

b. Yes it was only a friendly but it was a great victory

clearly responses are result dependent - tonight I'm plumping for response b

nah, we are pants end of

a friendly isd exactly that, played plenty in my days and whether we won 10-0 or got beat 10-0 it meant nowt

we shall see but personally I think England as a national side, under Fabio and the current bunch of defensive minded, shackled players we wont achieve sod all

Thought it was a decent game until the 2nd half when all the subsitutions start. Thats when it really ceases for me and turns into a glorified training exercise. That said I thought Parker was immense and a shame this rennaisance has come as the sands of time tick on his career. If he was 5-6 years younger he would have a great future in a white shirt. Back 4 did ok but a lone striker up front wasn't ideal. Biased as I am I'd have thought someone like Zamora who is use to holding it up and getting others involved would have been worth a look

Bout time Team England looked past the mus pick players , for years ye have had terry ferdinand, at the back ,gerrard & lampard together in midfield when they cant play together , they then move G out wide coz they both had to play ? why had they both to play ? leave jags & lescott there & let them b the 2 (when jags fit) play the boy jones right back , johnson aint good enough , forget the glamour name get the best team not the best individual players out there & england could go places ..

Frankly England were very poor in the first half. We couldn't pass to our own players and Spain took the ball back very easily when on the rare occassion that they lost it. I agree Spain didn't have too many chances but all of us in the stadium felt a goal would come at any time. Lescott was pretty crap and Ashley Cole was dire in the first half.Scott Parker was the pick of our lot and Milner tried hard

The second half changes saw an evening up of the teams and England finally started to string a couple of passes together and move with a bit more pace. We have so far to go to catch up with some of the best teams and it wont be in my lifetime I dont think

And, yes, I was watching it in the stadium and you do see a different game

My man of the match was fabregas. Spain looked much more of a handful when he came on.

Xavi was immense he just didn't seem to give the ball away. Fabregas looked threatening but the miss at the end was poor. They were a liittle more direct with him on though. i liked the touch of Silva too
