I am driving down to Northampton this evening to play in this tomorrow, I am really looking forward to it, although yesterday's 2 shot handicap cut came at an inopportune time.

Wish me luck.

good luck Louise, course should be a bit more gentle than may have been expected with the rain that has come down today, with a decent forecast conditions should be pretty much perfect for scoring, enjoy :D

Our club once hosted the South of England Coronation Foursomes finals.
260 women playing.
A couple of days before the event I ran through the action plan with the staff and finished by giving the new catering manager a pair of earplugs as a H&S requirement.
Just before the presentation with about 200 women in the clubhouse he shouted in my ear.....I THOUGHT YOU WERE JOKING.

I think its a leftover from the EWGA medal. I am still chuffed to have qualified.

Yep it is a EWGA comp so may not continue after this year. Every club qualifies with their player who has scored the best 4 NETT medals in the year going into the regional finals...

Well I'm back, The Northampton County course is a great course, lots of trees punitive rough deep bunkers and very tricky greens. When I arrived there was a big competitors board erected by the clubhouse, it was nice to see my name there.

I started steadily with 3 bogeys and a par including the first of, sadly, many 3 putts. The group in front had already held us up a couple of times in the early holes but as we had spent time looking for a ball we arrived on the 5th tee to be meet by a marshal telling us to hurry up. this did not have a good result and after a duffed drive, the only one of the day, we set off up the fairway only to see him following us. This caused more rushing and on my part getting angrier and angrier with him, the result, I took 13 shots on the hole!!

I finally calmed down after a couple more holes and played well, barring several more 3 putts. The greens were fast with many little slopes causing me to be very tentative with long putts, I don't think I got one within 3 feet of the hole all round. I did slip up on the 16th when I took 3 in a bunker finishing with a 9 one the hole. I finished the round with a gross 105 net 90 to finish 40th out of 60.

Apart from the Marshall I really enjoyed the day and the challenging course which was the toughest inland course I have played.
