Did anyone else get out in the sunshine this afternoon,it was like summer.
Nothing summery about my play at the moment though, very scrappy for the last 3 games.

There was a big notice on the starters hut that said due to recent good weather Winter Rules was finishing 2 weeks early this Friday.
No Matts,hurray.
18 full greens,hurray
and no astroturf tees, extra big hurray.
Tees were being cut, greens were being scarified and fairways shaped.

I can smell the season just 2 weeks away. :D

We have winter rules til April 1st, winter course too. It will be a shock to go to the summer course, as there is still no run.

Nice weather though.

We have been on full course (apart from about 3 matts) for the last week. 2 weeks ealrly still not alot of run on the course but it is looking good. Greenkeepers stepping up the pace now on the finishing touches.

Have been really lucky. Only played winter greens twice over xmas new year The rest of my games have been full greens all year and only some forward tees. The stakes were lifted last week so off the fairways now too.
Shame I still cant hit it straight though.....

We have been on full greens for the whole winter bar a couple of weeks. Not once have we been on mats either :D Preferred lies is still applicable on at least one of our courses though, I'm not sure about the other. There is no need for this though, I was getting about 20 yards of roll with my driver today at times.

I am definitely looking forward to summer condition greens though, I have never once had this gripe at my course but why oh why in the last couple of weeks have people become unable to repair pitchmarks!? I definitely want the greens to be running truer though, there is still a fair bit of 'wobble' out there when I putt, and there are different lengths of grass on different greens.

As you say Alchemy roll on the summer months.

Yeah we can all feel the weather turning now and the hour to go on soon as well.
Love this time of year, winter coming to an end and the whole season to look forward to.

At my last club there were never any winter rules, full course for 12 months so bit of a culture shock where I am now.
It serves its purpose though as my new course gets very wet in the winter and would be shot to shreds if it wasnt protected.

We've been on full greens and tees all winter and no mats they even made the course longer on 2 holes and put big astro turf mats in , great to start getting a bit of roll , night time golf is on its way

Guys sorry, I somehow edited Homers reply when I tried to respond :(

I know amature mistake!!! Anyway I have PM'd H to appologise, I hope he can remember what he wrote and maybe add it back in.

I was trying to reply and say, I had a big clump of mud on my ball today and a reletivly easy chip straight down the neck ended up shooting almost sideways as it landed on the clump of mud!

I stuck in work all week with this lovelly weather.

But joining a new club on Saturday with the girlfriend and cant wait get out there i can smell the freshly cut grass now
