Do any of your clubs/societies review your competition scores over the season and tweak handicaps to suit?

For example, take the average of your scores over say 10 comps, compare it to your exact h/cap then + or - ??

I have heard of the club sending out letters with end of year cuts to members. Not sure how they work it out though.

I think the Club2000 software pings players for h/cap adjustment automatically, but not sure on what grounds.

You can also make a request. Yeah, right.

Under CONGU, all golf clubs undertake an annual review, usually done between October and January when there are few or no competitions that affect handicap taking place.

They look at the people who's playing may require a cut or increase in handicap. It could be because they are never playing near their handicap and need an upward adjustment so that they may play nearer their handicap and , therefore enjoy their golf more. Anyone playing better than their handicap on a regular basis and where they may not have enjoyed a handicap cut may get a downward tweak under the review.

Most members have no adjustment at all

Just been cut by 2 shots from 13.6 to 11.6 might of had something to do with winning the singles knockout and beating all single figures players on the way inculding two guys who both play of 1 :D

An precicely why they do a yearly review - good innit!

Well done

Not going anywhere I don't think. Played close to it a few times (buffer zone) and missed the b/f by the odd shot. Other than that plenty of dross but as I only went up 0.8 on the year they won't look at me

Last year in our society, one of the lads with time on his hands worked out our average scores to par over the year (2009), put the highest scoring player on 28 handicap, then others at lower handicaps based on the average differential over the year compared to the 'worst' player.

So I started off 11, and after a decent campaign (yep I won the Grand Prix Trophy :))I am down to 5 (in the Society, but 13.8 in real life!)

It was decided that the new handicaps and movements in the year (0.3 reduction per stableford point over the average for the day, and vice-versa)have resulted in the handicaps now being at "the right" level, so no further changes required

Hey Gjbike hows things?

Yes my club do an annual review some people get shots back and refuse them some welcome them.

I finshed the season on 10.5 which I was quite happy with concidering how poorly I was in april/may/june.Our handicaps man gave me nothing. Ha

Hi Doh (Rick) nice to see out and about, not been on here for a while due to my wife being diagnose with breast cancer.
Got transfer to lime street station at Liverpool last September but still get rest days through the week so look forward to arrange a game when it gets warmer.
All the best for the New year Rick
