In my opinion is finished, not seen anything in him in over a year that would suggest he is capable of turning it around. Poor driver, terrible putter.

I posted that a while back,it is my opinion too Craw that he is a spent force and folk talk utter pish when they say he has a great swing......to me he looks incredibly uncomfortable over 60% of the shots he hits now.

Spent force.

100% agree, also starting to put Goose in this catagory as well although he can still throw in the occasional fine score.

Along with Seve, Els was the one golfer I loved to watch and he became my favourite once Seve's game deserted him and he called it a day. As much as I hate to say it, but it looks very much like the Big Easy is very much in the twilight of his career. Still swings the club beautifully but something is definitely missing. Could be that the lack of confidence with the putter is putting pressure on the rest of his game. Really hope that he has a good rest rediscovers something over the winter as would love to see him have 2 or 3 good seasons before he packs it in and maybe pick up that elusive Green Jacket and another Claret Jug.

Not being a student of the swing I wouldn't know if his is technically good or not.
What I do know is he has a wonderful tempo and smoothness to his swing and always has.
One of my faves down the years - it pains me as well to see him struggle as he has the last few years

Think it more of "been there done that " the drive/will is gone , wasnt there a piece in the mag where they moved home for treatment for their son ( could be wrong).. i think with some players there comes a time/age when the thought of long hours of practice just doesnt intrest them .. guess the part of the game that goes then is 150 yards in & putting .. Think big ernie has changed his priorities thats all

i hope he isn't finished and tbh it may be just a poor phase he is going through.we have seen the likes form westwood and garcia and look at them now.

i think it all depends on what he does in 2012,if he can get it back a little bit then i'd say "no,he isn't finished" but if 2012 is poor aswell then that will be tough for him to deal with.

Sadly I think he is done. He is too old to recover from this sort of form. May be ok for the seniors tour a bit later though.

He has under achieved anyway.

Think he has bigger things to worry about like his sons health issues. I do think he is coming to the end of a great career. Will he have the desire and appetite to do it again as a senior? Not so sure he will especially now the putting is going

Unfortunately Ernie was probably more affected than anyone by Woods' dominance - talent and ability-wise he was just as good as Woods, but something was lacking mentally. Don't think he ever fully recovered either from losing to Todd Hamilton at the Open, and Mickelson at Augusta. He should've bagged both of those easily.

He has started to do some other things, I believe he redesigned the course at Wentworth last year.

I think Ernie is near the end of his touring career and as suggested he will probably carry on in the Senior Tour. I dont know about his family problems but wish him the best.

Ernie has been a real ambasidor for the game and an inspiration to young golfers starting out. He is always polite and well mannered and for a big guy he does have remarkable tempo, I agree his poor putting of late has affected him badly.

Nonsense, Els couldn't lace Tigers boots. Great player oh, yes. Tiger class, the survey says X!

a win's a win but he was handed that on a platter by a man who's arse leaked all over the final few holes.

Aint anywhere near the golfer he has been but he's proved me wrong albeit by getting lucky to pick up the jug.
