I must be getting old because I'm actually thinking about buying an electric trolley. Happened last week after realising I was the only player with a push trolley, including all the young 'uns! Chatted it through with one friend who reckoned it could be worth a shot or two towards the end of a round....

But... OMG they are expensive!!! I had no idea!

Anyway, prices do seem to vary so what features add to the cost and of those what do I actually need?

Recommend me a trolley, forum!

I have a basic Powakaddy Classic. No fancy features, just does exactly what it says on the tin. Available with lead acid or litium battery in 18 or 36 hole options.

Transports my tour bag without any problems, what more could you want

I got a Motocaddy s3 which has all sorts of bells and whistles... never use any of them so a bulk standard would be my suggestion.

I asked the same question a while back, for me what will make my decision is the size the trolley folds down to, the Motocaddy M3 has quite a small footprint while folded, according to the Motocaddy website 40% smaller than other trollies and would be my choice.

We can hire them at our place. Would only ever use one on a hilly course to be honest (at the moment).

One thing I did notice after hiring one for a round is that the irons took one hell of a beating compared to carrying.

i didn't use any of extras on it. If I were to buy one would be looking for light and compact with a good battery.

David was suffering from a bad back on Monday and his very kind playing partner swapped trolleys so David had his electric one. It was the Go Kart automatic thingy and he was very impressed. We both had the original Go Kart but went back to push trolleys due to battery faff/forgetfulness and playing a very flat course. The beauty of the Go Kart he said was how effortless it was to have it go at just your perfect walking pace. Others seem to either bit a bit too slow or a bit too fast and you end up pushing a bit or holding them a bit so not much gained from a non electric version.

I know there are some Go Kart fans on here who will tell you more :-)

PS Just getting over a rib injury and it dawned on me that pushing was not helping especially as I tend to push one handed too often. At your level any extra you can gain from equipment of any variety is worth it. The pros don't push!

I have a golf stream and cant fault it.

Avoid the cheap ebay ones.... by cheap and all that.....

I have just bought Motocaddy M1, with Lithium Battery. Went for the compactness of the M range over the S range and the M1 because don't need the extras that the M3 offers for an additional £50.

Pros
Very Light
Quick Battery Charge
Very Compact when folded so does not take up all the boot space
Easy to Uses
Handle adjustable to suit any height
Cons
Speed is not perfect for my pace but hey ho
% Year Battery warranty (a Con because you need to read the small print, I had so I knew not to believe the marketing stuff

Overall I would give it 9/10

Depends on your purse strings,

a hillman pro sport was the cheapest i could find and can't fault it for the price

I know everything looks good in adverts but just googled this trolley and it seems to have a very good spec.
Anyone actually own one?
I am a Go kart owner and fan and am just about to send it for a service and upgrade to automatic control at a cost £135.00
Is it worth taking a punt on this?

I agree, I looked at the upgraded Motocaddy's but went for a basic S1 Lite digital electric and its great, simply does what it says on the tin :smirk:

I have one hence posting the link,
Couldn't justify the big bucks on a trolley so took a punt on a cheapo,
had it over a year now, no issues at all, only minor downside is no footbrake, 9/10

I waded through the differences and concluded that the S1 Pro was the one for me. Ergonomics on the handle, easier to fold/unfold and the USB output for either phone or GPS (phone off obviously 😅).

Went 18 hole lead acid but the charge time is all night - get back late with an early start the next day and you are going to compromise charging and battery management ie you will be pulling it off charge at 90% with all the potential horrors that brings 😨. Would go Li if you use it a lot (very relative obviously !)

Yes I intend to go Li, I read a reply by Region3 about doing it separately not as a buy deal as its cheaper. I nearly went for the pro again for the USB but my Touch is fine and always on charge and I never take my phone on the course, so talked myself out of the upgrade.

I have struggled slightly with the fold down with my accessories attached, otherwise its fine to fold!

Indeed I'm adding an Li 18 to give me a 36 option as well. But ideally I would have changed my initial purchase but hadn't realised the full implications of charging - everyone advising focused on weight and lasting 5 years; neither of which really worried me.

The Pro model is up in 2 secs and down in the same - I would say 1 but that would require 2 handed coordination :(

Get yourself a old hill billy built to last forever. Cheap parts easy to replace and fix. Had one three years and only have to replace battery every 18 months for 32 quid.
Guy in the club has one 20 years. And has spent very little on it over the years!

OK it's no oil painting but don't be fooled by this check eBay for parts and prices. Great way to get into the world of electric trolleys without spending hundreds of pounds!

That looks an absolute bargain...

Are they usually this price, or are they normally higher?
