electric trolley

I have a motocaddy and to be honest I think I would go for a Hillbilly next.

Mine is fine although its a few years old now so thats why its possibly now slow, especially going uphill.

I have a Hillbilly terrain.

It is 6 months old.

I have snapped the rivets holding the main down tube together, which took 4 weeks to fix under warranty. I could have fixed it myself, but heck, it was under warranty.

The gear box is getting noisy. I now walk along to a chorus of Wah, Wah, Wah noises, although strangely it went quiet on Tuesday night. Ominous.

In the winter there is not enough mud clearance around the front wheel. This has now become my main consideration when buying an electric trolley. Other wise I have to carry a spatula to free up the front wheel every now and then. Note, my mate has a powacaddy, and he finds the same.

I like the 10, 20, 30 yard feature. I like the umbrella holder too. I have a 36 hole battery, although I only play 36 holes twice a year. I also have a huge bag to put the trolley in to keep my car boot clean, and a big rain cover which covers the whole bag when it rains.

My bag fits ok, but it rotates, which makes the trolley not track straight. If I bought the hillbilly golf bag, this would lock to the trolley, which would be much better.

This is not written to slag off Hillbilly (which you are not considering anyway), but to provide an insight into what to look for in a trolley, and my experience of using one.

I have a powerbug, this is essentially a copy of a Motocaddy S1, same motor and major electronics parts, slightly different frame. It is heavy and bulky to pack, can be a messy job in winter*. My Avensis boot can swallow it, if you have anything smaller . . .

*golf clubs please note, air hoses are all well and good but a water hose would be much better at some jobs

I guess it all depends on your budget - if money isn't a big determmining factor in your selection then my view is powakaddy make the best electric trollies

I have had the last three models (currently on a FWII lithium) and have never had any real issues with them. They look great, perform superbly and mine have all been very reliable despite getting hard use (knocking on 80-100 rounds a year)

My only criticism of the models before FWII was the handles were not as sturdy as they could have been. The new FWII design has solved that.

In my book Motocaddy are a close second to PK and cost a little less

I know there are a lot of Go Kart fans on here and they certainly they offer a very good product, great service and all at a good price.

I use fraser trolley, I know its not as 'fashionable' as the other makes but it is a super trolley, more powerful than the Pk classic etc,(We raced them up the steepest hill at our course). It is quite heavy and doesn't fold as compact as others but in terms of performance it is excellent

I feel a Top Gear type drag race to see which electric trolley is the fastest! POWER!!!

Could be one for the mag. How about at midnight next Tues at The Belfry. After a few jars!

Urm. Should I go for the original slicks or the wets? (GoKart-ers will know what I'm talking about)

GoKarts look cheap and are as noisey as a football match, my doubles partner has one and its so loud!

I know a couple of people with powerbugs and they are happy with them.

Thecraw - ref your message - can you get your doubles partner to get in touch with us, there's something wrong there. He can email me or get in touch with general GoKart email address on the all the bumph.

go Sandy.. go Sandy... go Sandy...

Craw, thats service and the love of the game.

I've got a GoKart and it's pretty quiet.

As Sandy says. Get your mate to get in touch with her as there must be something wrong with it.

I must admit i was almost tempted by the gokart but in the end i didn't dare because of the qwirky looks i guess. I didn't want to be the first at my club to get one.
I payed the substantial extra money and bought a Powakady freeway and i must admit i love it. I only wish i could afford the lithiam freeway 2 at the moment and would be straight into that one.....any one got one they want to swap? ;)

I'm delighted with my trojan 250 sport, quiet, powerful, folds well, does what it is supposed to. Fab.£199.00 with 2 yr warranty :D
