Hi all

So I have a Sun Mountain Push Trolley with compatible MCB bag that I have always loved but the wife is asking if I want a Motocaddy for my birthday - S1 or S3

I have never even thought about it in the past to be honest

Are there any real benefits? Any of your guys/girls made the switch?

Ian

I haven't switched because I started with electric, but I'd never swap for a push trolley.
The main thing is just having both hands free while you're walking along, for cleaning the last club, pouring a coffee, filling the card in, etc.

I have a Motocaddy S1 electric and the Motocaddy small fold up push trolley, the push one is easy to transport but the S1 electric is better on course.

Powered trolleys are more expensive, more hassle but much less effort required from the user. If I didn't care about cost I'd buy electric all day, if cost was a concern I'd push my clubs. It's basically user preference

Depends on the topography (big word alert😁) of your course.
Plenty of ups and downs = Electric
Pretty flat = Push...

Unless you really want electric in which case take your pick...

Let her buy it. I have an S1 push trolley and it is very good. However I have used electric trolleys at other courses on away trips and it makes walking the course a doodle. It keeps your shoulders tension and strain free. You feel fresh at the end of the round. I wish my wife thought like yours. Impressive.

I've used an electric trolley for years, never had a push trolley but back in the day had a few pull trolleys.

Other than cost I can't really see why anyone would choose push over electric.

Just as I was about to pull the trigger on a push trolley, you've all made me think I NEED an electric trolley!

This forum is going to cost me.

I got an electric trolley this year after pondering it for a few years and wish I'd done it much sooner tbh.

Round my own course there's not much difference as it's pretty flat, hilly courses the push trolley killed my back/knees, would have been better off carrying.

I thought it would be a load of faff charging battery etc but really isn't. I got a Motocaddy M1, folds up neatly (more so than others). Got the 36 hole battery (that lasts more than that) so in the summer I charge it before the weekend comp then just use it for the odd 9 holes I get out during the week, and a team match if there is one, and lasts no bother.

I have both! Motocaddy m1 goes to most rounds with me

got a cheap push Trolley (£40) for a local course that's flat and a course my dad plays which bans electric trolleys in winter

push Trolley much quicker to set up and put away but electric is great and use whenever I can

I had several electric trolleys but swapped to a push trolley about 18 months ago.

The reasons for this were

1) Longevity of battery - never exceeded much more than a year before requiring replacement (never tried lithium)
2) The electric trolleys also seem to last 2 to 3 years before needing replacement or expensive repairs (got a dead GoKart in garage awaiting repair for 18 months now)
3) My current course is quite flat - played a few which are much more hilly and if a member there would probably consider a return to electric
4) Push trolleys have improved so much over recent years they are light, efficient and sturdy

I would go electric over push as I found that I tended to bend over a little with push trolley making my back ache, my course is hilly though

Would rocoimmend Gokart also
