Just wondering how many 'swing' voters there are on here.

Attitudes in the other Election threads seem pretty entrenched!

If it's quite small, it challenges the benefit of the Manifestos and long campaign, though every party will try to get their message across!

There seems to only be 2 or 3 real issues/differences being raised - Immigration and Mansion Tax. Deficit/Economy is all pretty woolly and the big expenditure areas of Health, Social Welfare and Education seem to have taken a back seat! At least at this stage of the campaign. The themes of the 2 main parties seem to be 'We are nicer guys' rather than anything else!

I haven't decided yet. I live in one of the marginal seats that will be one of the ones to decide the election. It's a seat that regularly changes hands. Last time round there were less than 500 votes between the Conservative and Labour candidates and it's predicted to be as close again.

I've voted Conservative in every election in which I've been eligible to vote and we currently have a Conservative candidate holding the seat. The Labour candidate has previously held the seat and did a lot of good for my local area and has a couple of policies that would be really good if he got in. The Conservative guy has been less good for the local area.

My problem is, do I vote for the candidate that I think will be better for my local area and risk helping Labour get into office or do I accept the second best candidate for local policies in the hope that it will keep Ed Milliband out of Downing Street?

The ward where I live in the 46yrs I've been on this planet, has always been a Labour seat, no other party has ever come close to changing that. I vote by post so I'll decide when the ballot arrives, but as aforementioned I do not think it'll make any difference what I vote, as this ward is a very very safe Labour seat.

Still wavering between UKIP and the BNP. I just wish they would make it clear where they stand on immigration though. As all I'm hearing from them is education this, social welfare that, defense, the environment blah blah blah.

Still to decide whether to vote tactically or as my instinct takes me. Sitting MP is Jeremy Hunt - can't wait for him doing a hustings outside our local Sainsburys - my wife will have a few hard NHS questions for him. Me too. Decent guy and very approachable and responsive local MP - but he's a Tory party cabinet minister so I am going to really, really struggle to vote for him.

South-West Surrey you'd imagine to be a rock solid Tory seat - and you'd be right - until a couple of elections ago when the LibDems came very close to winning the seat after Virginia Bottomley stood down. But two elections ago was their moment and it has passed - Jeremy wiped the floor with the LibDems last time out - and I can't see the LibDems defeating him this time - you never know I guess.

Exactly the same here - just substitute Tory for Labour......

I wasn't intending to vote.

However, I have to say that Lego heid has convinced me that everyone south of 'The Wall' is anti Scottish, worships the Deil, couldn't be trusted to run a cold bath and only she alone has the answers to all the questions.

As such I'll now be voting snp.

:smirk:

My local MP, from the party I would naturally vote for, is an absolute dipstick and is vocally backing some local decisions that I strongly disagree with. I don't think I can bring myself to vote for him. The other candidates all stand for parties I really don't agree with. I wanted a total Independent to stand but there was not one. I am totally stuck and unless someone comes out with a killer policy that I either massively agree with or have to prevent from happening then I may just spoil the paper as I believe voting itself is very important to do.

Undecided here, i from a known Labour safe seat with John Smith, Helen Liddell and John Reid all having been my MP at one point, I'm not so sure it will remain Labour this time.

I have voted both Labour and SNP at some point but the one thing i do not wish to see is another referendum and the SNP cannot guarantee they won't push for it, that may be one crucial factor for me.

Yep same here, not sure who I'll vote for this time but maybe a massive change for me however it won't make a difference at all.

Are the Monster Raving Loony Party still going? Can't be any worse than the other lying whatsits who will promise anything to get your vote, but then not deliver if in power! At the moment I just know I won't vote for the Labour Party, because they have always ruined the country when in government! :)

Most of the main parties are promising to ruin Mrs mogs pension arrangements, In order to pay for crack pot idiocies that don't affect us. I'm struggling to vote for any of them.

The only one not going to do this is ukip. A lot of their policies appeal to me, which is worrying, and they are, in the main, made up of people I have a real dislike for. Especially the idiot in charge.

In my ward, I don't think my vote will make any difference to the result anyway.

The more I think about it, the more I would like proportional representation, rather than the current system.

Lying, cheating, stealing bar stewards the lot of them.
The only thing they care about is themselves.
They lie to the voters and promise them the earth so they can keep their jobs and continue cheating and stealing from the tax payer.
Am I going to vote for any of them?
Not on your nelly.

Yes I am decided.....my area is conservative, in the last election the odds on conservative winning the seat again was 1/800. Personally I hate the party and will never ever ever ever vote for them.

Kop Out - sorry - they are patently not all the same. But your choice. Just don't expect anyone to listen to your complaints about the lot who end up in power and what they do.

I have no right to complain as I wont vote.
I will give you some facts though.
MPs claimed more last year on expenses than they did in 2009 when the expenses scandal broke. £103m

Mps can now pay members of their family up to £50,000 a year as 'secretaries' Almost double the wage of a Band 6 registered nurse.

Not forgetting their 10% payrise expected after the election because they have fallen behind the wages of foreign MPs (public sector capped at 1%).Taking them to £74,000

Spot on Bob

Don't trust a single one of them

I also won't be voting

It is really quite worrying to hear about the number English residents who will not vote.

When I worked in Local Authority and a resident was having a ranting to me against the council I always asked them if they had voted.
Generally met with no.
I then told them that if they did not engage in the process they had absolutely no right to complain.

Believe anyone can complain about desicions made by any government but can't complain who gets voted in if they don't vote

But if everyone who didn't vote, actually read up on all the parties and then voted for the one they detested the least. Maybe more people would be satisfied with the results?

a lot complain about their wages, but a lot of from public schools with lots of friends. I'm sure they could have got city jobs on 74k.

Obviosuky some are too dodgy, but that happens in all careers.

I actually belove love in more of the ideas of ukips, but won't be voting for the. As the points I don't believe in outweigh their pros.
