I understand the following ... Auction, Buy It Now, Best Offer
and I've seen combination listings but ...

I've just had a seller ask me to make an offer on an auction listing? He's not messaged me out of the blue or anything but included it in a reply to my question.

For any of you more experienced ebayers - Is that allowed or frowned upon/ not kosher/ dodgy?

Any advice appreciated as I don't want to fall foul of a .....hustle!!

he can ask, its upto you to offer or go the auction route. I have sold outside ebay before when someone has offered cash on collection. sod ebay and their fee's if I can get away with it :)

He's just tryin to get a good price without risking the auction running he accepts your offer ends the listing, you win the item guaranteed he saves fees by selling direct a bit like using eBay as the buying and selling section.

Not within eBay rules but a widely flouted one!
If you do go this route make sure you pay with PayPal and not bank transfer/cheque.

+1

Ebay take 10% these days, for normal sellers, so on high ticket items this is tempting. Use (normal) Paypal for payment!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I've never sold - just keep on buying - call me "Mini" G1BBO. :D

It seemed "funny" to me that he didn't do an aution and Best Offer together but now I understand.
Managed to pick up another one for a lot less than his went for :whoo:

You do run the risk of paying via gift or whatever with paypal and receiving nothing and having no comeback.
Is the couple of quid off worth the hassle of it turning ugly?

always someone else selling and always a better price to be had ;)

my set in sig, total cost - £550 all in (thats inc both putters), not too shabby at all!
