They have a notoriously high rejection rate, even after the “you’re approved” crap they send out.
Even people with excellent credit scores are declined after application, which sadly leaves a hard search on your file (This just proves the uselessness and vagary of credit scores, but that is a separate discussion).
Haven’t used them myself but know of them and their reputation from years of working in credit underwriting business units.

Can't help you from your side, but as someone who has had to take payments through paypal, the fees are rather unpleasant so I always prefer not to take them.

For the future I'd advise getting a second bank account set up, so if this happens again all you do is transfer cash over to the other bank and crack on
