Ebay novice question

Have seen a mountain bike that I quite fancy and its local.

Collection only, so if I bid and win and then go and see it but don't wish to purchase can I pull out or am I committed to the purchase ?

You bid to buy, you can go and view it before the auction closes.

you can always message seller and maybe arrange to see if doesnt sell and get a bit cheaper as he wont be paying fees

Yup that's what I did, when it was relisted and did not sell I had chance to buy it at a reduced price. As in all things in my life it was not straight forward.
i was at the British masters on the Thursday when offered the bike. I could not reply as I could not remember my password on iPhone ( saved on iPad). I contacted him as soon as I got home Friday and he emailed saying he sold it five mins earlier coz I never responded on Thursday. Someone else had contacted him.
five mins later I went over on ankle and thought ad broke it so not looked for a bike since.

check the serial number out before buying it. It is not uncommon for stolen bikes to be sold on Ebay, last thing you want is first time out someone seeing you on it and it turns out to be the one they had knicked a month ago. The local Police can help you with that.
