Lib Dems secure the Eastleigh vote but, UKIP blast their way into 2nd above the Tories and weren't far off taking the podium!

Will we start to see this repeated across the country? More people voted and what's more interesting is that, many, who hadn't voted for years decided to so and as such UKIP have become the protest party ahead of the Conservatives & labour!

Is it just a knee jerk reaction?

Are they just using the right buzz words?

Will they play a big part in the future elections across the country by taking seats from the big 2?

Could they become the country's elected party and how far away could that be?

I think there will be a couple of emergency meetings held today at No10.

I have to say that the UKIP vote does not surprise me. In the past they have been dismissed as a one policy party, but now they seem to be getting a common sense message across, about Europe but also about things connected with Europe (immigration, law making etc.) After all, as European laws, government and courts take precedence over ours, you can see that the one policy UKIP was accused of building a party on is actually at the heart of politics. I am more surprised that the Lib Dems held on to the seat, considering the by election was caused by their MP's dishonesty. This is the second time this has happened in a couple of years. They had to call a by election in Oldham due to the Labour guy doing something wrong. Labour won there with an increased majority. Does this mean the Electorate don't really care about honesty anymore?

More importantly I see the Beer, baccy & crumpet party 'outperformed' the Monster raving loony party...

A sign of the times?

More seriously I don't believe by-election results really indicate too much in the scheme of things... Still the best part of two and a half years away from a general election... Which I believe could prove 'interesting' for more than one reason!
