I've finally got my Easter freebie round sorted. It's taken too many phone calls and emails to get Marriott's to understand that courses get busy at holiday periods and you have to book early, especially when working to a tight timetable that only allowed one morning to get the round in. Still . .
I've got an 8.00 am (solo) start at La Quinta. This will be my first excursion to a Spanish course so any advice will be welcome.

You are in for a treat my friend,I played La Quinta on Feb 4th.There are 3 loops of 9 and I played B and C. On loop C there are a couple of steep holes especially the last which will really test your legs as you complete your round.
Plenty of water hazards about to test your nerve and the greens were lightning fast compared to the woolly winter ones I left behind.
Just a hint of caution,several of the tees have wooden railway sleeper type steps ,early morning dew causes them to become very slippy and I saw a guy in front of me have a nasty accident falling down some.
Also a plus point..outside the pro shop there is available plenty of drinking water with a La Quinta label,grab plenty its free and you,ll need it when the sun gets up.
The place is well organised and friendly with the marshalls and starter helpful and not intimidating.I hope you get paired up with a member who can play a bit as I was lucky to do.Have a good round I'm certain you'll enjoy your day.

Enjoy your trip Viscount. I've never played golf in that area but here are some useful Spanish golfing expressions.
Podemos pasar? = Can we play through?
Te toca a ti = It's your putt.
Dada = Given
Mierda = S***
Buen golpe = Good shot.

There is a word in everyday Spanish, "golfa", which refers to '' professional'' ladies who have nothing to do with the great game. Take care.
Have fun.
