Playing a fourball round East and West courses of East Sussex National next weekend. Any one played there recently? Played ten years ago and loved it, just wondered if it had changed at all?
Nothing has changed course wise as far as I'm aware, the east is imo the weaker of the two courses , I find the west a more challenging track ,its tighter and longer than the east but its the east that is the championship course.
both courses are good though.
.Personally I prefer the East. Always seem to play better around there, so maybe that's why!
There are a few holes on the West that I can never score on, no matter how well I have been playing the previous ones.
Par 5 12th being the 1st of them. I have never finished that hole with the same ball. A bit of respite at the 13th (par 3) but then comes one of the hardest par 4's you'll play anywhere.
Another breather at 15 & 16 but then one of my least favourite holes anywhere. Another par 5 that I don't think I've ever scored a point on.
Follow that up with either a slice or a pulled drive on 18 and another big fat duck egg can go down on the card.
If I come off that back 9 with more than 10 points I feel that I've had a result.
For me to stand any chance of winning anything around there I've got to score at least 26 points on the front 9 to give me the buffer I need to cope with what's to come.
And that's not likely to happen

As a member, I'm happy to try and pull a day together as there seems to be a bit of interest?
I'd be interested.

I'd be up for it..... if we were playing the East

We could play both? Just be nice to see you play the West 12th, 14th and 17th, which I agree are tricky holes to play!
