Hello,

I posted on here recently about a trip to Portugal we're organising with friends and had some useful help with golf luggage... thanks to those who replied.

We're all booked up to play 2 rounds at Oceanico Pinhal and Oceanico Laguna golf courses in Villamoura, however I think we need to show handicap certificates which we don't currently have.

There are 4 of us going who all play regularly 2-3 times a week through the summer and would be between 18-28 handicappers but none of us are club members... can anyone recommend a way to get handicap certs online or something which wouldn't cost too much??

Thanks in advance.

Most of these places if they are looking for cetificates will only accept congu ones. Best check out what they will take for sure.

I have never been asked for a certificate in my life, anywhere. what are other peoples experiences. I think golfshake do them too.

What does a handicap certificate prove..?

That you're a member of a club and have played 3 rounds to get it.
You could still be a player with no knowledge of rules or ettiqutte, or any ability at all.
Clubs that demand these certificates do so, I assume, to prevent the great unwashed from soiling their turf. The premise that, just because you belong to a club therefore you know the rules and ettiquette is flawed.
Every week I see "Members" of clubs who display none of those qualities. There are many players who choose not to members of clubs but have more knowledge of rules and ettiquette in their little fingers than many club members have in the whole group they play in.

I've never needed a handicap ceritificate but I have been asked for one in Spain. As long as you're dressed in proper golfing attire and politely explain that you forgot to bring it you should be fine.
