I now realise after 2 years in the wilderness that all my poor ball striking, fats, thins, j Arthur's, pull duck hooks, push fades and high push slices have stemmed from one main fault, early extension.

Normally after about 20 balls at the range I'd have a sore left lower back.
A few lessons and talks with pro's (plus posting here in 'experts') failed to identify the cause.

I'd tried 'washing the window' with my backside!:p and some others with no success.

Then a vid posted by TPI via twitter with a quick and surprising solution has me striking the ball beautifully (for me) again.

Tried it a few days ago with instant success but wanted a longer range session today for affirmation.

260 balls throughout the bag with 3 I didn't like!

Sorry for going on but when it's back you just want to tell everyone, that's a golf law. :o

Worth a try.

I have mentioned before that I find a drill where you strike the ball at address and a ball placed in front of it a good way to prevent early extension.

I found this video by 'Shawn Clements' that explains this well:

I've always been fascinated by the swing that SC teaches.... I like it.... but I'm not sure why :p

That's an amazing amount of 'body' in front of the ball :p

Sorry... I was off having a little mind wonder there..... carry on as you were

sent the original Post via phone and battery died or I would have included.

I sent this to Gareth and Kid2 last week as both mentioned EE, don't know how they faired with it.

anyway here ya go, worked for me but maybe not for everyone...

I hit a few balls with that setup Pal...... But i couldnt stop shanking it at all..... I kept bringing the hosel back to the ball:confused:
I may not have given it enough time...It'll be something ill work on for the winter maybe......

LOL... that drill is actually meant as a fix for the shanks

Although I expect if you went back to the original ball position you weren't shanking it? well not that often :p

Told you i go to extremes didnt I:whistle:
If i give it enough time i think it'll work.... Iv since found my own take on stopping me from EE...... I keep a little more flex in my right knee at address and point it in slightly at the ball..... It seems to make me keep my backside back as well.... But ill only consciously think of this at the range... On the course i try not to be fiddling.....
