I was out shopping today and saw that Lidl is starting to sell school uniforms.

There is another 3 -4 weeks of this years school year to go plus (South West England) another 6 weeks or so of summer holidays.

School uniform is sold all year round here 🤷‍♂️
It is the special deals that seem to start really early. When my kids were young most of the shops had stopped selling it or sold out by the time the new school year started. Both of mine used to have growth spurts in September so never wanted to buy clothes earlier than that.

Very long time since my kids were school age so not really watched what has gone on since.

The dreaded "growth spurt" - always a miracle how so many parent's (was going to say mum's 🫢) are able to judge their kids' growth and buy the correct size clothes weeks/months in advance!

The missus buys , 5 jumpers, 5 polo shirts and 5 pairs of trousers for both the boys, no messing about 😂
If you're not sharp buying uniform, it can sell out quite quickly, we have bought for next term already, M & S for us, as apparently it washes well 😂😂

Quite annoying just starting my school summer holidays and the likes of Tesco set out big sections with school stuff. 😬
Never mind, first day off today. 😃

I always felt a special thrill when I had a new school blazer - of course I had no idea of how tough it would have been for my parents to afford it. Just as well the occasions were often a few year apart. For those who know, they were of course bought from Campbells Boys School Outfitters on Victoria Rd on the south side…the shop is still there - still doing school uniforms for boys all these 55+ yrs later.

To be honest the cost of school uniforms nowadays is very very cheap compared to years ago. During the last week of the the school year. Every class at the grandkids school puts out hundreds and hundreds of pieces of school clothing outside each classroom. You can either reclaim your lost clothing or go to the next year up and help yourself to freebies.

A cycnic might say it just goes to show what a lucrative business the selling of school uniforms is. ;)
