My mate who's the Pro at the local driving range gave me a couple of ex demo irons. one is an MP15 6 iron Xp x 100 shaft and the other the same club with Ctaper 120 same as my irons (mp4) tried the XP tonight and it went miles, prob 10 yards further and that was in cold ish conditions with no run.

Might be the forgiveness on offer with the MP15, but could be the shaft.

when i tried the MP15 before i was less than impressed with them.

anyone have any exp of the XP shaft and what do they think of it???

I think the XP is a higher launching shaft than the C-Taper.
As long as the spin rates are ok, higher launch should mean more carry..

Do you know if it's xp95, xp105 etc?

I tried the XP95 and loved it. Because of the lighter weight I felt more in control of the club and probably picked up a couple of mph of speed as well. Ended up with KBS Tour 90 but there was hardly anything in it, would have been just as happy with the XP95.

My only concern was possibly launching too high or with too much spin, but so far they've been great.

I guess the X100 won't feel as stiff as in a DG shaft due to the lighter weight, and will help keep the launch and spin down.

If you like the C Taper have a look at the C Taper Lite. I've been hitting some irons with this in it and very impressed, think they're 110g from what I saw online.

I've never tried the "normal" C Taper so don't know how similar/different they are, had KBS Tour S+ before that were much heavier.

I have c taper 120's in my irons and found them much stiffer feeling than the standard x100.

Performance wise however, I can't find anything that gets close to the C tapers. They just whip the ball right out there for me.

On a side note though. I just picked up the same irons (XTD forged) with X flex c taper 130's for a stupidly silly price on eBay.

Interested to see what difference this makes.

No Idea, doesn't say anything on it. might have to try one with the MP4 head on it and see the difference

I had a set of Adams irons with the stiff C Tapers in and they were too stiff for me. When I was on, they were great, but when I was off (which was more often than not), I really struggled.

When I got fitted for my current irons I tried the c Tapers again, c taper lites and the lites felt much better. The DG x100's seemed a bit easier to hit and higher launching than the c taper stiff. For info my swing speed with a 7 iron was on average 86-88mph.

My clubs I've just replaced had the original xp's in them. They definitely hit the ball high, and I found they spun too much for me- into wind they would just climb and climb
