So a couple of weeks ago, on the Friday received an email from the Pro saying the Mizzie range is in, pop in over theweekend for a demo.

Dropped in, there was a comp on, cardboard boxes in the bin and the clubs still in the wrappers. Had a bash with the new MP range then he stuck the flight scope on. Much as I liked the MPs, I seemed to be hitting the 825 Pros better and more so again combined with the DG SLs in S300.

He was throwing some good discount numbers around and it was tricky to resist. Anyway I guess I am more of a swinger than a hitter but what other shafts should I be maybe looking at for comparison if and when I manage to fit a full fitting in?
Any views on these shafts?

According to a static fitting was recommending 1/2 " longer and a couple upright, but using the strike board with flight scope the best results were std lie. Wonder if I have learnt to compensate over the years.

My Pro mate is a definite fan of DG SLs (perversely in Regular). Nice low flight and plenty of spin when I tried them. I just didn't particularly like the feel of them. KBS Tours could well be worth checking out. C-Tapers probably more of a hitters shaft. Not tried the Tour V.

I'm almost certain you will have compensated/adjusted to whatever got/gets the best out of your current irons.

if you like slightly lighter shafts (as you tried SL S300) then you will probably like the True Temper XP 95 and XP 105 S300- two good shafts getting excellent reviews.

KBS tour V's a bit heavier and stiffer feeling imo but there is also the c-taper lite.

I use the DG SL and like it. There are lots of very light steel shafts on the market now but most seem to be pretty or very high launch. The SL is low launch/spin. If you take a look at the Titleist iron shaft graph it actually has it as the lowest launch/spin. Not sure I would go that far though. If I remember right the SL is about 110/112 grams, so more like mid weight these days rather than "super light" but it's an old shaft now.

You could also try the C taper lite (stock shaft in the MP H5) also available as a custom option with Mizuno this season. They should give a good highish but strong flight.

Just taken DG SL S300s out of mine and put in Nippon Pro Modus 120 stiff as I just prefer Nippon shafts.

So the SLs are for sale.......

You cant beat nippon shafts. They are the only shaft company to use new metal in their shafts rather than recycled metal. they are the only company to pull cast their shafts too so theres no seam!

My club fitter has his own way to pure the shafts with a laser attached to the shaft, and I watched him do it and it backs up with what you said as no matter what position he put the shaft there was very little oscillation compared to other shafts I've had in the past.

Thanks for all the posts guys.

Actually started with the session with the H5s and c-taper lites, I've hit them before albeit without the numbers so was expecting positive results and they were. To be fair to the Pro once we had played about with other things he did the SLs with the H5 and the tapers with the 850s - but the SLs with the 850s had the edge.

Like to try the XPs, PXi and Nippons.
Haven't picked up a club since though :(
