Anyone been? Recommend it or not? Thinking of going tomorrow but not if it's just going to be a queue-fest and rip off food and drink :mmm:

Normally a really great day, not cheap but not excessive compared to other large national events such sporting occasions and big museums etc etc. Can be a bit of an effort sometimes getting in and I've been recommended the park and ride service. Been worth it for the chance to see some seriously interesting stuff

Done it a few times. Queues aren't bad at all, and food prices aren't excessive for events... subjective of course but I'd say go.

It's one of the better ones and I believe the Vulcan might be there this year and it's he last season it will ever be flying :(

Thanks guys - decision made and we'll go and probably park and ride at Trumpington as might be easier than parking at Duxford. It's a special VE day show so should be entertaining.

A Vulcan has been flying around here this afternoon maybe getting ready for the show.

Yeah its first flying after winter service - wonderful aircraft , will be gutted it will never fly again

RAF Waddington is a much better show. Sadly no show there this year though

Been to Duxford, it's a great place to visit, sadly the only air show I ever went to was at Booker near High Wycombe around 1970/71 so I was 9 or 10 I have this vivid memory of a Vulcan doing a multiple fly past .

First it flew over at bonkers speed, very low, out of nowhere and many ice creams were dropped.
Later it came in very slow with its nose right up, flying low and level but at a 30 degree angle, then when it was over the middle of the airfield the afterburners went to full and it just went up like a rocket and the noise and the gut wrenching vibration and the ground shaking were incredible.

Wouldn't have liked to have been an Argie on Port Stanley airport when those bombs got dropped :)

Just home and a good day out for sure. Really enjoyed the museums and then the show started with a Typhoon which blew me away - amazing. Clever intro as one of the other planes started a slow taxi which took our attention and suddenly the sky was filled with noise as the jet came over. Shame the Red Arrows are tomorrow but will try and look overhead at about 5.30 (may still be on the course!) to see them returning to base.

Just going through my photos of the sky which occasionally have an aeroplane in them!

It might have sounded like it, but the Vulcan engines didn't have afterburners....

The Olymus engines that were fitted to Concorde did, but not the Vulcan ones.
Spent 3 years servicing the engines and systems 1979-82 and was lucky enough to fly in one to Goose Bay, Newfoundland and the return trip....amazing experience.
Beautiful aircraft and shame to see it retiring from flight this year.

Amazing expirince -we had one fly over for our passout from Swinderby , scared the living daylights out of the crowd.

One of my mates is part of the team keeping going at the moment
