I've been invited to play at Dunston Hall golf club near Norwich next week and I wondered if anyone had played it and if it was any good?

I've only played it once since it changed from a 9 hole course to the full 18. It's a nice track actually, some interesting holes that require precise approach shots if I remember rightly, and a fair bit of water. Was in lovely condition when I played it. I think it's what you may call target golf to a certain extent.

Played there a couple of times this year Bob. The last time was only a couple of weeks ago where i shot a 70 (par 71) so you shoud do well ;)

I'll be honest and say the setting is lovely when you look back at the old hall on some of the holes. However , the tee boxes were not up to standard and the course had suffered pretty badly from the lack of rain. It was very dry and dusty with some horrendous bare lies. The greens hadnt stood up too well to the summer either tbh.

It's a quirky layout in that there are quite a few short par 4's where irons are all thats needed and a good wedge game. Some holes are quite testing though , particularly with regards to accuracy off tees. Some water comes in to play on a few holes but it isnt too hard to navigate away from. The 18th is a very nice par 3 , hitting back towards the hall , over water.

To sum it up I personally wouldnt make too much effort to play it again unless there was a comp that I was interested in (wouldnt pay to play it socially).

-1, always good shooting being under par, especially away from home, well done jammy.
