I've spent so much time practicing on a driving range that I'm finding it hard to hit a ball off the ground. Of the ground at the range on the astro turf I'm sub consciously afraid of getting my club under the ball cos the club hits solid floor.
When I get on grass I tend to hit the ball above the equator.
Any advice please?

Does the range only have the very thin mats? If so maybe find another range, or ideally practice on grass although I guess you would be if you could.

Personally, I don't worry about hitting the mat hard. If it starts to hurt I'll stop, and the worst that can happen to the club is the loft or lie gets bent slightly.

It's not like I pick the ball off the turf either. On the course I take huge divots!
