Looking at buying one for my brother in law for his 40th, anyone been on one and could recommend a decent one? Had a quick look online and some get good reviews and other's complain about the size of the track etc and the time waiting round inbetween rides.

Top Gear have just started doing them at their track, so if like me he's always wanted to see if he is better than the celebrity's you can actually give it a go.

Otherwise, I did one at Thurxton in an Aston Martin DB9. It was amazing but you don't get many laps in the supercar.

Hope that helps.

depends on your budget to be honest....I've done a couple of the cheaper ones and you always feel like you've hardly driven at all. You may have 5 minutes behind the wheel in a 2 hour session.

Probably between £150-200 the budget.

Ok, well I did one at Seighford ( a disused airfield) which was essentially 2 straights to boot it, 1 chicane and a long slow corner. That's as technical as it gets.

I have also done the rally driving course at brands hatch which was pretty damn fun....its amazing how fast a 207 felt.

I did one fairly recently with Trackdays and it was a fantastic day. Got to drive a Lambo and a DB9 for 2 laps each around a track which was great fun, and then paid extra to have a pro drive me round for 2 laps in an Ariel Atom, which was one of the most fun things I've ever done, the speed those things can generate is so good. The driving of the supercars didn't last particularly long, the track was quite short, and didn't allow for you to pick up much speed, but getting the chance to drive cars like that was well worth it, and I'd recommend it to anyone. For your budget, you should be able to get something really good too!

i booked HID one with 6th gear on rarely used airfield at Elevington where Richard Hammond has his smash. Was well organised and would recommend.
Dad had a great day at Silverstone too but would of been slightly disappointed had he booked the 2 seat formula car as it was basically a procession.

I did one at North Weald recently and it was pretty forgettable. Mas was nice but you get 3 v short laps for your hard earned, with the request that you buy more. Day at Brands Hatch a few years back was much better, tuition and more time on the track, if they still do them.

Took my son to Pro-Drive in Kenilworth, he drove 4 laps with each of the following Aston Martin DB9, Ferrari 320, Audi R8, Porcshe 911, Lamborghini 360, he managed speeds of about 120 mph on the straights and really enjoyed it. Expensive but due to being his 18th his mother and me shared the cost
