After my attempt at a light flex shaft disaster I got to trying a few drivers out,in short I'm having a driver shoot out tomorrow, narrowed it down to Cobra amp cell, TM RBZ stage 2 and the surprise package Callaway x hot. Tried Ping but was not keen.
Any thoughts on the above clubs? I know everyone is different, looking primarily distance off the tee.

You tried to use light flex? A shaft designed for the, how shall we put it, less flexible and more aged... Senior if you will?
Or was it simply a light weight shaft? These can be hard to control.

As above, try lots out and decide on results not the brand/model. Lots of positive reviews and noise about the X-Hot but I didn't find it any better than my ZL Encore (which is a pretty damn good driver anyway).

Still struggle to understand why everyone seems to be picking the XHot over the Razr Fit Xtreme........

I tried the Xhot against my RFX and the numbers weren't even close :(

Maybe because it works for them.
Didn't like either personally but at least the X-Hot wasn't as god awful ugly as the Extreme.

Agree with the first bit. The RFX was the second worst driver I hit recently after getting a shot of over a dozen. A £60 Ben Ross came 3rd last. Nicklaus Air Draw came last but to be fair, the face is made out of concrete so it didn't stand a chance.

Horses for courses!!

I've poster before, I will probably post again, but the current paradigm is that some find the RBZ delivers the numbers, and others find it's the X-hot.

this isn't intended to suggest that there are ony 2 drivers in the market - far from it - but everything I have seen shows that thaere are people that find one, or other, of these to deliver what they are looking for.

proper fitting may well find a more specific combination of club-head, shaft, loft and settings to beliver a more bespoke solution  but the underlying world seems polarised around the above.

The extreme is the best looking driver out there at the moment. It is not great underneath, granted, but at address it is very tidy, and traditional looking. I don't get why anyone would think it was god awful ugly?

The thing about the extreme for me is that you really need the weight kit to make it work. This should come with the driver, but it doesn't. I have taken the 13g weight out, and replaced it with a 6g, and it is a much better swing weight for me. I have had an 8, a 10, or the 13 in it, but currently like the 6.

Mainly because its about personal prefernce an individualism. Every man thinks his wife's the prettiest etc etc...
I personally find it an ugly piece of kit. Some wont, others will.
Traditional looking for me would be made of wood and a lot less than 440-460cc size.
Cleveland classic is the closest to traditional IMO but again too big.

It was used to highlight my point mainly in response to a post assertinh that the Extreme is best because one person said so...
Never mind, I'm sure the right to express an opinion different to the 'gang' on here will return at some point.

Who said you can't have an opinion? It's just given the choice of lumpy, huge, multi coloured pig ugly golf clubs out there I'm struggling to see why you would single out the extreme as the worst offender.

I didn't say it was the best either. Merely pointed out that it can be made better for more people with the weight kit.

But I didn't say it was the worst offender. As you say, in your opinion, there are lots of pig ugly clubs out there. I just happen to think that the Extreme is among them. Along with Ping shovel GI irons, chippers and putters that look like an exercise in geometry on acid (TM Spider for example with more angles than a protractor factory).
Nor did I say that it was you who claimed it best. That was earlier in proceedings and I was using my distaste for the Extreme's looks to show that not everyone thinks alike. Cue the "how can you say that" posts. Quite easily is the reply, quite easily indeed.

I wanted a new Titleist or G25 Driver , shop demo's were out on loan , tried the Anser , didnt like it , tried a cally (dont know which 1) he then gave me a RBZ Stage 2 to try its a weapon a bloody great cannon of a club

But ya gota try them all and only you will know

i had virtually the identical shoot out with the RBZ, AMP Cell and X Hot. ALso tried the RAZR extreme but discounted that mainly on grounds of cost.

THere wasn't much between them, looks wise I hated the RBZ and loved the AMP Cell but ultimately went with the XHot. As that was the the one my club pro could get hold of and rather he than AMerican Golf got my business.

I don't really believe most golfers would be able to determine a difference between them other than on some looks / brand basis.

I have a Cleveland fitting booked, I have kind of decided I want a deep faced driver, as my strikes go up and down the the face as opposed to across it. But also I am interested in the SLDR, but I can see them being premium money and then another huge chunk of money for a decent shaft upgrade. The cleveland will just have the upgrade shaft as part of the cost.
I have not tried the latest 913, xhot, ping, or cobra... But I am comfortable in my knowledge of those brands to remove them from my list. Yes preconceived perception but as I said I want a deep face driver.
