My current woods set up at the moment is a Ping G15 (10.5) driver and a Benross hot speed Fairway (16.0).

The last couple of rounds I've had the driver hasn't been consistent at all and I've hit it well maybe only 2/10 times. Conversly, I can get both good distance and accuracy from my fairway wood hitting it well for perhaps 8/10 times.

The current plan is certainly to shelve the driver while i get back into the swing of things (haven't played regularly for about 4-5 years). But the question is, as my swing consistency and confidence grows, will I stand a better chance of hitting the driver 'where I'm aiming it'?

The other option would be to cut my losses, sell the Ping and look towards the benross hot driver to match my fairway wood, as it may be that it suits my swing better.

The G15 is a good driver, if I were you I would hang on to it until you are more consistent. This forum is full of people who have changed their gear hoping to find a solution to their problems. (I am one of them). You become a better player by understanding what a golf swing is and becoming technically proficient at it.

I changed my driver swing on Friday. it has gone from one of my weakest clubs to a consistent performer. shot a PB yesterday. nuff said :)

a month ago I left the driver out of the bag and was using a 15degree hybrid as my lowest club.

my driver is going on the naughty step for a few weeks. its me and not it, so need to leave it alone for a bit until i can make some time to iron out my issues with it.

I'd say shelve it, I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the club and you don't want to make a hasty, rash and potentially expensive decision just because you're not swinging your best... why not spend the money that you would spend on a driver on a couple of lessons?

good luck!
