Hi,
Do shafts in drivers loose there zip. I feel after 2 years my driver is just not as powerful feeling on the hits, i'm still striking it well and getting out there but just not as far i do feel that i am striking the ball better than i ever have and have not lost any swing speed.

I am sure someone will come say for sure about the shafts but is this over the winter with the thick air or its been for a while now?(last summer)

Last week I went to see the bloke who built my clubs, as it seemed my driver had 'gone off' and wanted it checking. He told me that there was not much chance but would have a look on the machine. After blatting a dozen balls he told me it was my swing speed which had dropped by 4mph in the last 2-years. he then told me the best option was to change shaft as the driver head is great. I tried the new Mitsubishi Fubuki, which is only 50gms, whereas my old SKFiber was 74gms, but the Fubiki was awesome. I got an extra 3mph back and an average of 9.3 yards extra. It's a hell of a shaft. The torque was great and a mid kick point meant hardly any adjustments to loft etc.

So if you have a driver that works, get a new shaft before buying another

Do you not know that Taylor Made have a suicide device in their drivers, and once you have fallen more than one TM driver model behind, it activates and starts to drain all the good shots out?

well said doc, if things are not going great test what you had and compare, most driver heads are fine, and a new shaft to suit any changes may be a better choice, and far cheaper.
check for local club builders, they can give a lot of different points of veiw, and have access to lots of different shafts

I find it amazing that a shaft suddenly doesn't suit because you've slowed down by 3mph :D
There's probably more variation than that during one round.

Is that really the only thing that's changed about your swing?
