Any advice appreciated on this one.

Last few days I have totally lost the right trajectory when driving. The ball is going so high compared to how it used to.

I havent altered ball position or stance, the only difference has been in my swing speed which has gained significantly after recovery from a back problem.

I use a King Cobra F-Speed, 10.5, reg shaft.

The only thing I can think of is that the shaft is folding up on me because of the increased speed.

Any ideas guys??? Thank you!!!

Medwayjon,

It makes sense that the extra swing speed that you've been generating would lead to a higher ball flight. Through impact you'll be creating more backspin thus ballooning the ball.

First of all I'd make sure you aren't leaning back through impact - this can also cause a higher flight. If not, then it's probably best to seek some professional advice about the suitability of your shafts. If they are too soft for your new swing speed, a new shaft will definitely help.

I hope this makes sense,

Neil

I’ve had a few Driver issues in the past too so can sympathise with you.

It may be that because you’re swing speed has increased your body is subconsciously sliding itself to the left slightly during the downswing forcing you to hit down on the ball ballooning it into the air. Try keeping your body from sliding to the left and see if it improves the ball flight.

I may obviously be miles from the mark with this suggestion but it’s worth a try. It was certainly a help when I had some ‘Driver‘ issues.

If the Regular flex of the shaft is now too flexible for your new swing speed you’ll also find yourself pulling the ball out to the left all the time.

Let us know how you get on.

DHM.

I'm in with my pro for 1/2 hour tonight so I could always ask him to change the plan I suppose.

It's just so frustrating as I was driving beautifully, long and with confidence.

This is only happening with the driver thouh, I am still absolutely creaming my fairways and they have the same shaft so maybe there is an issue with body movement.

Thanks for the help though, hugely appreciated.

I love this game but its so hard when things fall apart for no obvious reason!!!

Give it a few hours and you'll be ripping it again for no apparent reason - it's the bizarre beauty of the game

sounds to me as if you are hitting it like an iron, ie coming down through the back of it and popping it up with back spin.
Not convinced that the shaft would be that far wrong as to completely change the fight. It might not be ideal, but this sounds more than that.
Remeber to sweep the ball off the tee.
