Simple question,

For those who have been fitted or tested a driver which showed better numbers in terms of distance, have you ACTUALLY found that your distance has increased when you tee it up on the course?

I hear so much about people buying new drivers, talking about how they have gained 10-30 yards over their current club during the fitting/testing session but then hear very little about whether they were now 10-30 yards down the fairway.

So, who has actually BOUGHT distance and saw consistent, long-term benefits on the course?

I BOUGHT consistency over distance. My old R1 was a monster, but with only 1/5 actually being a monster, it was a liability. I got fitted for a Benross Hot Speed2, dropped shaft stiffness, lost distance (comparing longest with longest, but average must be increased) and i have seen a huge difference out on the course. Pre winter last knock i had, i missed 1 fairway with my driver.

Distance, the R1 on Trackman carried about 270 (but i reitterate, only 1/5, the rest could and would go anywhere!), I am probably below 250 now but am much happier as I am on or near to the fairway!!

I was fitted for a shorter driver to 44", I've not gained much length, if any only a handful, certainly not lost any length, but what I've BOUGHT is more centered strikes, control of the club and accuracy. 3 against 1 wins in my book.

Sounds good. If I could hit it 250 on the fairway then that would see me into single figures.

funnily enough, ive gone from a driver i was fitted for to one i just got out of the SH bag at Inverness Golf club.

I was fitted for an Xhot 2 years ago, and that had good numbers and worked quite well for the rest of the year, then started to struggle with the long shaft in it and got that changed to a shaft that was in my old driver that was a bit shorter.

In all honesty i never really liked the way the head sat behind the ball. saw a cheap SH SLDR, tried it on the course, found the stock shaft a bit whippy, got a TP shaft of a guy on here and now hotting the driver better than ever.

Switched from my fitted Titleist 907 D1 to a 913 D2 in May last year and saw gains in both distance and accuracy. Maybe 5% on both. The shaft on the earlier model was ever so slightly whippier than the new model which I always think led to more off-centre strikes. Not a huge difference but whatever you're confident with in your hands is gonna help the score.

I think the only people making 10+ yards gain with a driver are those who have very old or very badly suited drivers in the first place.

To answer the OP though.. very hard to tell as conditions play such a part.

And also the wildly inconsistent strikes that we amateurs put on the ball :(

Wasn't fitted as such but Pro suggested I should take out a 913 as the shaft it had in really suited my swing, it was tapped up and I was certainly longer with it, driving the one green . Bought it and would say it's a good 15 to 20 yards longer then my old R9 Supertri.

There are a good few years between those models so that doesn't seem to unreasonable, particularly if you weren't fitted at all for the R9.

I was fitted for my driver , and the distance is noticeable , my drives used to be about 220-225 now under normal conditions they are 240-250 gps measured obviously the odd humdinger or the odd crappy strike

Wishon?

Was fitted for R9 and had been trying other drivers on and off but nothing was going further than it .

Had a go with a SLDR which I was going to try and get fitted for at AG then take stats to pro for him to source one but never found the time so he suggested the 913 as on discount before the 915 coming out.

Suggests that the manufactures claims are not that unfounded as in the intervening years they have got longer ( not withstanding different makes for me )

Or you got better and so the R9 did not fit you as well?

When i was fitted for my Bertha by Callaway we started from scratch
My driving was so shocking I used a 4 wood.
They started me on a 13° regular and I hit it straight and carried 200 yards.
Move up to a 10.5 regular and again it was straight but now 235 yards carry
On to a 10.5 stiff and carry went up to 240
I can now take my driver out knowing I'm going to get a decent result most of the time, something I couldn't do before.
So fitting has bought me 250+ yards....
