After something to replace my very first driver and 3 wood. Both are part of a Dunlop 65i set that was my first set that has now been replaced by some callaway RAZR x irons. After using these and still using the Dunlop driver and 3 wood I'm desperate to replace them both. They feel dead off the face, ballooning 90% of the time and I'm sure it's killing yardage somewhat. Just after suggestions for something that is still forgiving as driving isn't a strong part of my game. So far have been recommended the ping g10, callaway RAZR black. Any other suggestions? Looking at ideally spending about 150 for both don't mind buying second hand. Anyone got any experience with either of these clubs? And would somewhere like AG stock some older lines of stock for me to try?

Cheers

Ping G5/10/15

Sisters partner got a full set of G10s to start with.

They are perfect clubs for new/casual and improving golfers and will do him for many years!

Ping G10 is a good choice.
However, dont expect it to fix everything.
If your old driver is ballooning, there's a good chance its not the drivers fault

Hacker Khan pointed me to an interesting article about the C of G of drivers here http://www.mygolfspy.com/the-most-popular-drivers-of-2015-secret-cg-locations/

I also hit the ball very high & the only shaft I have been able to use has been the Black Tie. The article suggested that the Nike Vapor was one of the most forgiving, low launching drivers on the market. I found a Nike Covert, very similar to the Vapor cheap in American Golf & decided to give it a try. It goes really well & is the only driver with a stock shaft that I can hit without ballooning the ball. Might work for you.

If you can pick up a Fly Z driver for £150 then I'd pile in there. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COBRA-FLY-Z-DRIVER-/121784112968?hash=item1c5ae61748 or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cobra-Fly...99863ee&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=331670168469 could work, depending on how much you trust ebay sellers.

Someone else pointed me to this as well, http://www.mygolfspy.com/2015-most-wanted-driver-overall-awards/ So compared to the silly prices new drivers are going for nowadays, £150 for the most wanted driver for 2015 is a steel in my book. And if you are willing to import from the US you can get it for less than £150 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-COBRA...X-HEADCOVER-/371457811971?hash=item567c9c6603

following the advise given on here about getting a new driver I bought a ping G15 driver from fleabay and had to get the matching 3 wood - £100 for the pair.

I popped to the driving range over the weekend with them and they were great, long and straight and despite not using a driver for a few years I feel so confident with it already.

If I were in your shoes I'd keep my eyes peeled for good condition 2012-2014 products, such as Callaway X-Hot, TaylorMade RBZ, Ping G20, Titleist 910 and Nike VRS.

AG would only have those sorts of clubs in its second hand section I imagine. Our forum does have a Wanted/For Sale section, so worth posting on there incase someone has something suitable they've recently replaced and want to get rid of.

Razr X black you mention in your first post is one of the longest most forgiving drivers i have ever hit. I did some consumer testing a few years ago and this was by far the best driver available at the time for ME.... cracking club.

Lots of good suggestions and most if not all would probably be better than what you have at the moment. However, different clubs tend to be better for some swings than others and rather than guess or go off what has worked for others you'd be better, IMHO, going to somewhere with a swing bay facility thingy with some launch monitor tech and try some out. AG seems the obvious choice to try their 2nd-hand stuff but I'm sure there are other options near where you live if you check. I'm in a similar position, using a 'Taylormade r7 Superquad' and need a change - I'm off to my local driving range tomorrow (on the recommendation of my club pro) for a fitting but may end up spending a bit more than £150 if I find stuff I like.

RBZ driver and fairway (the original) would be a good choice. A less common brand to take a look at would be Adams. Super hot faces and bargains galore to be had on eBay!

Just throwing it out there but I reckon a nice Cobra Bio-Cell Driver combined with an Adams Tight Lies 3 wood (both in immaculate condition) would serve you well.
Funnily enough.........
:whistle::whistle::whistle:

Another vote here for Nike Covert. I play the Vapor Driver, but have Covert 3 wood and hybrids and cant recommend them enough. Look great, easy to hit and they fly !

Bargains to be had out there in the tinternet, especially as Nike are launching a Vapor 'replacement' v.soon

Recently tried all the stock options on offer and nothing could best my G15, but as Bob says it might not be the arrows!

However you will experience an improvement in build quality moving from Dunlop to a more premium mark, with the confidence that comes with it. Just make sure you buy a reasonable shaft loft combination for your swing. If you're not sure ask in the shop, or on here! I once saw a chap about to buy a X Stiff shaft 8 degree driver cos it was down from £249 to £50. I didn't want to be mean, maybe he was Rory Mac, but he didn't look it so I asked him if he had a really fast swing speed. We struck up a conversation and it turned out he just thought he'd be getting a bargain. I'm sure there are plenty folk out there struggling with gear that really doesn't suit them and they just don't know it.

Enjoy the shopping!

SAid it on another thread but seriously consider the Adams Blue range . No adjustablity to confuse you just confidence giving, forgiving and very good to look at , at a great price point. Give them a whack, you won't be disappointed .

Picked up a brand new (well it had been in a pro shop but never hit) Adams Blue 3 wood from a US seller on ebay for about 45 notes! Plus 25 quid postage. Bargain.

Import duty will be added too I suspect.

Haven't heard anything yet. Bought a few things from the US on ebay and it seems a bit random, some times you get charged and some times you don't. Not sure if there is a limit over which they bother, as under than limit it isn't worth the administrative hassle to collect it?
