so im just getting back into golf and have this week bought myself a set of Cobra amp irons , so got lots to buy yet but not to worried as the weather is rubbish , i use right handed clubs but have the kak handed grip and always have done since i was a kid , but it just works for me , the only clubs i struggle with are my woods they will go way way to the right unless i use an offset club , i had these in my old set but i would like to try one of these new adjustable drivers and close up the face and see if that would work for me , has anyone on here had similar problems with slice and managed to correct it this way .

Do you have a golf shop with a range attached near to you?

They will tape up their clubs and let you try them out, for FREE!

Try an adjustable club and if you're still slicing them, buy any decent driver on the second hand market and put your savings into a couple of lessons?

Where do you play?

Hi Delh1982. I seriously doubt any adjustable driver will cure a big slice mate, the adjust ability on offer isn't big enough to stop that happening. A draw biased head would still not be enough. What shaft do you use in a driver? If it is too stiff then that will not help either, the stiffer the shaft if you cannot load it properly the further right it will go.

the offset head driver i had before done the trick ,it was an old ben sayers offset with graphite shaft , i must pop up to AG and have a look

I'd suggest you experiment with where you place the ball in your set-up.

I know/knew a couple of kack-handed players - one of whom hit's the ball an obscene distance - and both said they had to sort that out (for themselves!).

Theres a place local to me that actually charges you £20 to try out a selection of taped up drivers

Normally I would say go and get fitted but I think lessons are the best way to go from here on in mate. If your hitting a big slice then go and get help before you make it worse.

Trust me you will make it worse....talking from experience.

What Siren said, lessons (and the range balls after...) are the best money you can spend at the moment.

I have the AMP Cell Iron's and Driver which are very nice and the adjustability is great. Until recently I used to hit a horrible slice but after going to see my pro he was able to straighten me out in half an hour. Good kit is nice but no substitute for quality teaching.

Going to pop over to AG next week and try the adjustable and offset cobra drivers , my iron play is fine and nice and straight just that bloody driver

I used to use right handed clubs with a kak handed grip till I worked out I was really left handed. ;)

As for the clubs curing a slice then as already mentioned, a couple of lessons will probably do you more good than relying on an adjustable driver to sort it out.

I would get a lesson before parting with any cash on a new driver (but you knew I'd say that :rolleyes:). Sounds like an angle of attack, ball position or path issue especially if you hit the irons ok. A quick 30 minute lesson should see you right

Have you had lessons ? Would a Pro teach you with a kak handed grip ?
