yesterday when watching the golf, one of the commentators happen to mention the above book and author. having not heard about this before i was curious, so i looked it up. the book is about a golfer aiming to go from a round of 104 to par in one year.

It sounds like it might be a good read, has anyone read this book?

Its not a bad theme to be honest, if you google his name he has a website with some clips and extracts. The course he was learning and playing on is inside a mile from my home.

I think from memory last year he posted some stuff on you tube or similar and maybe even posted on here but don't quote me on that bit. From Northern Ireland as my dodgy memory recalls and with the help of his female club pro managed to go from over 100 per round to matching par.

He posted a blog and a few swing thoughts/tips at the time and there was a website you could join and get his book or soemthing although I didn't bother

Is that Blackwood? I remember reading an article about this guy. According to that, the whole "104 to par in a year" thing is a bit misleading, as he had previously been a single figure player before taking a break from the game.

Was Blackwood indeed, I never heard anything about being a single figure handicapper as he mentioned once that he would either have to become good at the game or give it up, since breaking par he doesnt really play anymore anyway!

Aparently he told Torrance what he was wanting to achieve and the arrogant git told him to 'DREAM ON'. I have heard the author telling it and the manner in which he was tiold to dream on was not a romantic as how Torrance relayed it on telly.

It would be nice if he challenged Torrance and his Slazenger junk to a round for charity.

Could Torrance break par using that guff???

DREAM ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also heard Torrance mention it, and I have ordered the book off of amazon for £6 I think with free postage. I'm looking for a new golf orientated book to read over the summer so hopefully this will follow on nicely from 4 iron in the soul, which was a great read. From the reviews I saw on amazon it should fit the bill nicely :D

My 2 year old took money from my wifes account and got me it for fathers day, I finished it in a week and loved it. It really shows the mental challange more than anything else.
I would recommend it without a doubt.

He certainly wasn't single figures as far as I'm aware. I know a guy who used to play with him and he did play off 15 during his teens but that was handicap he got at the par 64 course in Portstewart so I'm not really sure it's a proper 15 in any sense.

I thought it was a truly wonderful book. I really didn't expect it to be so entertaining to be honest. I'd read all the press and watched a lot of his tips but didn't expect him to be able to write. Even knew I knew the outcome I still found myself bizarrely thinking "will he do it?" as I was coming up to the last few chapters.
