Anyone see it?

Dan asked him about the psychology of todays round and where Rory's head should be, thoughts etc etc

anyone comment on the answers?

Did he not just say to go out and play his natural game - saw it but can't remember anything sticking out

Possibly the most meaningless vacuous interview of the week. Suspect the need for psychologist support is a fashion thing, if player A is using it then so must player B etc. Same with these voodoo magnetic positive ion braclet crap many wear.... Most fragile and can't let any fad pass by without grabbing the crutch.

He didn't seem that interested. Most likely cos the questions being asked weren't that great and quite dumbed down to fit with the bbc so that none golfers would understand the simply ness of it all.

The bracelets and psychology both work and the reason they do is connected.

The what of it all??

Is this what you mean by 'dumbed down'? Simplicity?

Bracelet I believe are a perfect example of a placebo

Exactly. Both work on how you think. The main thing is that they do work.

If wearing a band make you think you are getting benefit then you will find a benefit.

Psychology works by challenging and changing the way you think about things to allow you to perform or act differently in a given situation.

Whenever someone wins they thank their "mind coach"

They never run interviews with the other 150 entrants about how their mind coach failed them and that they are getting the sack.

I reckon the bracelets work because they are paid £ to wear them and not say they don't work.

I always find the concept of the placebo effect in golf quite funny when these aids come up. I can see, that like in life, some issues might require professional assistance, Karlsson seems a recent case in point.

But for the others, to be accompanied to tournaments week in week out with a Dr who'll whisper sweet nothings in your ear telling you that you are the best and take one shot at a time and have key words that are shortcuts for concentrate, back to basics, focus on the now... as he moves down the range, player to player, giving the alternates of same advice is strange.

The bracelets are the strangest manifestation of our societies grasp for spurious pseudo science - £35 for a PoS plastic bracelet and in the golf club world you see two categories using them... youngish guys aping the pros and older blokes who'll spend cash on anything rather than practice and lessons.

Dire really, play against anyone wearing them and you know there is a good chance a part of their game will be very flaky ... putting most probably... (take the opportunity to ask them directly (& seriously!) approaching 1st green do they use it for help with their putting ;) .....and in pro game there are fine exemplars who these bracelets really help... ... Westwood and Lawrie ..... great players but a shame.
