Today in our monthly medal I finished +1 Net. Checked my score on the card and signed it and dropped it into the box.

Moments later I processed the cards and when it came to mine I couldn't believe it when I saw that there was no score recorded on the 9th hole. The card was otherwise OK just a blank on the 9th when it should have read 4.

It wasn't a winning score but it would have increased my lead in the order of merit and now as a result instead of being 14 points ahead the lead is now just 4 points with 2 events remaining.

The marker was apologetic and felt bad for not marking it down but I told him not to worry, these things happen and at the end of the day its my mistake for not checking properly.

Just a question and I realise it is of no bearing on the outcome but I'm assuming your marker added up the total score and you agreed with it? If so, you really have to question your markers addition skills :D

He knew that I was 2 over at the turn so he simply added 2 to the par which gave the correct total.

He just didn't put my score for the hole in the box, actually it as a 5 not a 4 but it doesn't matter now.

I just hope it won't be important next month when the OOM ends.

Got it.

I could see at H4H you were an honourable man!

(Forgetful, but honourable)

it's a bummer isn't it - many years ago I had similar when DQ'ing a card for no player signature; only to look at the top and see it was mine!

you just have to laugh at yourself and get on with it.

Really, Sawtooth, you of all people should know better.

Standard lecture (delivered to most of our seniors on a regular basis):

It takes only 30 seconds to compare and check the individual gross scores on marker's and player's scorecard - even more important if it's a half decent score.
