Morning all,

Have a friend back in UK this summer after many years working abroad and has asked me to arrange weekends golf in Dorset.

Looking for scenic as opposed to high end courses, any recommendations much appreciated.

You've got a loads of choice;

high end £50+ a round;

Parkestone
Broadstone
Ferndown
Remedy Oak
Brokenhurst Manor(just in hampshire)

Broadstone is the best by a distance, the rest pretty similar in standard, all decent tracks

I can sign you into Brokenhurst if I'm around when you come down. Would then be £30

the next best would be;

Isle of Purbeck around £40 per round, course is Ok, Views are amazing
Dorset Country Club a £40, nice course decent test, out in the sticks near Wareham, you can also stay here.
Knighton Heath, nice course, tight heathland, like a mini Broadstone, but not really visitor friendly.
Meyrick Park, a muni, but a decent Muni. Right in the middle of Bournemouth, can also stay here.

Dudsbury is good in the summer, avoid if wet, long and challenging, greens are normally fine.
Canford Magna 36 holes, OK parkland course, last time I played the greens were shocking. (about 2 years ago)
Wareham is worth a trip, has some interesting healthland holes, and some shockers !!

I wouldn't bother with the rest. Swinger is a big fan of Iford Golf Centre, so ask him to expand :D

For a trip to Bournemouth/Dorset on a mid budget, I would go for Meyrick, Dorset CC & Isle of Purbeck :thup:

some more on here may have some to add

PM me if you want anymore info.

There are a couple more to add to the list........

Queens Park, lot of people slag it off because of all the public rights of way and dog walkers but it actually has some very good holes on it and being a muni it's cheap to play.
Moors Valley (not sure if it's over the Hants border or not) but again suitable for a cheap weekend away.
Came Down near Dorchester, some great views and quite testing in places, the Dorset county champs are there this year.
Crane Valley is another option but I'm not a fan of the place.

I've only played Isle of Purbeck but can recommend it.

As therod says the views are amazing. If it's scenic you want you won't go far wrong here.
